Audi owners in here!

I was thoroughly impressed by a B8 A4 2.0 TFSI "Black Edition" that I drove a few days ago. Fantastic engine.

There was one parked on the road outside my house a few weeks ago. Thought it looked great and nice to see it was a TFSI instead of a 2.0tdi. :)

I love those rotor alloys. :o

Just rented a brand new (300 miles on the clock) Audi A4 Avant 2.0 TDI for 10 days.
Picked it up in Madrid, up to the Atlantic coast, up through the Pyrenees and back down to central Spain.

First impressions:
The steering was ridiculously light at very low speeds, although it did stiffen up at speed, but it did make parking nice and easy, although it is a long car with big overhangs.
The xenon lights added nice DRLs. The car looked very smart.

The good bits:
I was very impressed with the quality of materials, although it took much longer than expected to figure out how the OBC worked! Could be much easier IMO, although integration with the radio and phone was very good.
Lovely gear knob too!
It's a very stable and quiet car. Motorway speeds are deceptive. 100mph feels like 70.

The bad bits:
The seats were the biggest disappointment . Not very supportive at all and not very comfortable either. No lumbar support which was a disappointment considering we spent 42 hours in the car, covering 1500 miles!

The 136bhp engine was nothing special at all, bit slow for my liking, although it went well once up to speed. Managed an indicated 140 so not that bad.
The torque was handy, although as most of the mountain driving was between 2nd and 3rd gear, the short 2nd gear was annoying when overtaking as the power drops off very quickly.

Driving dynamics were typical Audi. Heavy nose and a lot of understeer. Not really my ideal car for Pyrenean mountain roads. The Michelin Primacy HPs were **** as well, with way too much understeer and scrabbling with the TC off.

I averaged 41MPG overall, and it did 52 on a lazy motorway run.

Great to see an Audi owners thread and thought I would add my pride and joy. Audi A8 4.2L. Love my car and will be retro fitting an AMI unit soon. It would have been sooner but just paid out £1350 to have the kessy system replaced. Not just the J518 module can be replaced as the steering column also needs replacing :(

Still I am well happy with my car and will be a love afair for many years :D

I 'love' my TT, she seems determined to run through the entire list of common faults for a MK1. So far it's been a faulty fuel gauge, ignition coil failure, cat heat shield bolt corrosion and the latest little surprise... a failed electric window regulator. All I need now is my dashpod to fail.

Oh, and my rear numberplate fell off a couple of days ago. :D

Audi's are almost always very pretty cars, but to me they seem built on the cheap. :(

I'd still buy another one though... :o

Nice, love the A8. Is the AMI retrofit as much of a PITA as it is on the A6? Replacing the glovebox was fiddly!

It can be done with just loosening the glove box but fiddly. I will prolly have to remove it though as I have fat fingers.

How is it for fuel? lol

My wife has an Astra that is great on fuel and use that for every day running about. This is my car for fun driving and fuel is shockingly expensive but a small price to pay for such a sweet drive.

Why would you need to ask, like 99% of Audi's it is a 2.0 TDI S-Line.

Which is why more info on that A8 would be good :D

What would you like to know?

Also, has anybody done any Vag Com mods like lowering the suspension or allowing the dvd player to work whilst moving?

I've done a fair amount in VAG-COM, besides enabling the AMI unit.

I've added the battery meter to my MMI, added graphical display to my parking sensors, adjusted the sensitivity of the auto lights and wipers, and other piddly little stuff like that which I can't remember off the top of my head.
