Audi owners in here!

Twist the filler 1/8 - 1/4 of a turn clockwise when filling. I found this in pretty much every Audi I've had. Then you can bang on at full pelt.

Watch out when getting to the top though. It may not give you the fill click.

Tried it every way possible and it's still a no go :p
I didn't have any issues filling mine up.
It went to 55litres before it clicked off.

Went down quickly but then it's a thirsty nugget, isn't it?
What's the tank anyway, 60l?

My lease is coming to an end and it's time to go and grab a new car, I've talked myself out of getting another Vauxhall and have decided to give the BMW 116d Sport and an Audi A3 1.6 Sportback SE a look.

What are the A3s like to drive and am I likely too have many issue with them? It'll be in warranty the whole time so it's not too much of an issue but I do want a reliable car. Can anyone compare it too the 116d?

Stop leasing bottom of the range brand new cars. You can drive better cars for the same money if you don't need a '14' on the numberplate. Covered by a full warranty, too.

Both the cars you've listed are ones you'd be mildly dissapointed to receive as a courtesy car let alone actually drive for 3 years.

They are leased via Motability and seem to be on the higher end of what is available. If you have any recommendations other than Ford or Vauxhall I'd be happy to have a look.

Ah fair enough, I thought you were just taking a personal lease each time. That said you can also buy used vehicles through Motability too.

There used to be some quite nice BMW and Audi vehicles on the list, have they gone?

I'm under 25 so limited to engine size and insurance group now. My highest option is a 1.6 Diesel with less than 115BHP. They have a list available on the Motability website.

There are a lot of cars on there I intend to test drive but I don't like the look of any of the Fords and also the fact my current Corsa is falling to bits is putting me off getting an Astra.

fathers a3 cab is the 1.6tdi. engine get's slated by everyone but it does the job and returns nice MPG with smooth driving :)

also dunno what that guy at west london seat, I dealt with, has been smoking.....checked to see if my deposit had been returned yet... nope... so gave a call just to check.... dunno if he was trying to pull something now.

I phoned last week asking about the car and specifically about if the rear seats were 60/40 split and fold down. after phoning back he confirmed that it did indeed have the folding seats. (also said only one owner), so I put down a £500 refundable deposit to hold the car whilst I waited the 1 day for weekend to go see it.

within 10 mins of arriving in london (after driving for almost 3.5 hours) we discovered that the seats were static. now his first reaction when I pointed this out was: "is it really that big a deal". to which I stated it was a requirement and why I specifically asked on the phone. he then said it wasn't him who checked and was someone else so they must have gotten confused and thought I meant the rear arm rest  ?! seeing that I wasn't going to buy he did say he could ask the mech guys to try and make them fold flat.... LOL nah... you're alright mate :p so we left it at that saying we weren't buying as it missed that feature and he said he would get the deposit refunded that afternoon. (I also did a HPI check and apparently car had 2, maybe 3 owners?!)

checked bank today and no refund (on CC so could take a few more days but though I'd call to check). so phoned up and after explaining which car and who I was I was greeted by " oh the guy who drove from wales and forgot his credit card" ?! WTF?! I asked him to explain and apparently he had said I still wanted the car but didn't buy it as I left my creditcard at home....

what a load of horse****!!!!

So explained to the first guy the situation but he seemed to want to check the car and with the sales repo (who isn;t in today) and then get back to me, to which I stated, why do you need to? I've expressed my valid reason for decline so why can;t my money be refunded now. so he said he'd see the manager and get back to me.

few hours and nothing heard, so spoke to someone else who had also heard about the welsh guy forgetting his credit card. explained to him and he seemed on the ball and laughed at how the **** someone could get confused if the seats folded or not and then said he'd chat with the boss and get it done. I also requested for the boss to call me after his meeting (he was currently in) so that he could confirm it was done at their end.

Now could have been an honest mistake? but more I think about it.... the more I think he lied about the cars seats to try and get me up there to see the can and then hoping I would just buy the car anyway as it might not bother most. But then after me declining the sale, then telling everyone i was still interested and forgot my card?! something really off/dodgy about that!!!! maybe he was trying to wait till tomorrow to refund it and just say that I had changed my mind... rather than saying he refunded on sat because he possibly lied about the car to drag me up there.

tl dr: car was misrepresented and rejected upon seeing the car... then sales rep told other reps I still wanted the car but forgot my credit card so that's why my deposit hasn't been returned yet :p

update: spoke to a woman in the dealership, apparently the boss is off today, and she's checked with accounting and my refund was done at the end of yesterday so should be back in my account by the end of the week. Hopefully that's all sorted now then. still wondering what on earth the sales guy was thinking :p

Just thought I'd add, I've done a lot of motorway miles lately.

Before getting my new A3, I've managed to get 700 miles out of a 50L tank, from an A3 2.0 TDI 2006 plate. Average of 63MPG.

I was travelling between 55-60 the entire journey though. :)

that's pretty good going! what did clarkson get on the top gear/audi challenge, london to scottland and back on a single tank? giant barge of an A8 I think he was driving :)

oh and *high fives* for being in swansea too :D

90 litres?! damn! just had a google... was in a twin turbo 4.0 v8 diesel ... no wonder the tank was so huge haha! and still averaged 40 mpg :p

wonder how fast you could drain the tank ;)

My minimum engine oil light came on. Bit annoying as the cars going back in 2 weeks. Never mind. Anyway, I need to top it up and I'm struggling to work out what oil I need.

The manual says VW502, but I haven't got a clue what that actually is. I've seen various internet comments suggest 0W40, some suggest 5W40. So which is betteR? Presumably I can use any brand just to top it up?

If it's going back in a couple weeks, then fire on with the cheapest stuff you can find. Not gonna kill the car in a couple weeks. 5w40 will be fine though.

still not had the refund from the seat west london dealership yet

/sigh

phoned my CC company - still nothing pending/processing. was given their dispute email so sent that off. think because that has a dispute against it that it won't come up on my next bill but the one after to allow for investigation/rectifying. so hopefully won't be out of pocket on my bill date :)

phoned the dealership but again, too busy so said would call me back. accounts were about to close so phoned up and the same guy answered and put me through to someone senior. he said it was issued on tues but I explained the lack of funds in my account and pending transaction with the CC, I'd like them to email me proof. he said I should have had the receipt in the post from the transaction...which I haven't. so he's going to "chase it up and get back to me soon"....

I'm not holding my breath for a call back today.... seriously, such a pain! these guys are a joke. I hate the looming feeling of big payments to pay back... that's why I don't take out loans and buy things when I know I have the funds to cover it.

going to get a flaming google review after this from me!!! :p

also Audi are still on at my father, trying to coax him into part-exing his 11 a3 cab in for a new model one xD

Well, my idea of getting the sportback is gone, it's no longer an option on motability.

Thinking of the A3 1.6 Diesel Sport?

I test drove the 1.6 Sportback and it was outstanding compared too the Corsa I drive at the minute.
