Audi owners in here!

This might be a daft question, but here goes.

I've got an Audi on lease from them directly, I got it on the 12th July 2013 brand new - when is it due it's first service (of any type)?

I think I'm on the digital service schedule and the car's computer tells me in 375 days, which would be 2 years from delivery.

I assume the above is for a full service and perhaps I need an interim service after a year?

Cheers for any advice.

It's normally every 2 years or 20,000 miles isn't it.

Yep that's what I thought and what the computer says, I'm just a bit weary that if I don't get something done to it first year I'll get a fine when I return the car.

There's the oil change service and the major inspection service (which I assume is the one my car's computer will notify me of).

Sorry, every one year and 20,000 miles. Not a clue why I put 2 first time.

Ah right. I'll give the local centre a ring and see what they advise.

Cheers.

Edit: They just said to stick to what the computer tells me. As long as it's got full service history when I give it back I'm not too fussed otherwise about paying for extra interim services etc.

Yes, it's usually 2 years / 18,000 - 20,000 miles on the long life service interval. But it can be condition based, so if the oil gets dirtier sooner, then it may prompt you to get it serviced. Just do what the computer says and you'll be fine.

so spoke to a guy in the accounts of that garage I've been having a mare with. apparently my refund is on his desk waiting to be authorised by the director.....so basically everything that's been said to me since the 20th has been a lie. director is apparently, *possibly*, in tomorrow so it will hopefully be done then. asked to be phoned when it has to confirm. again... not holding my breath on that call... rubbish that the CC company are giving them 30 days when they're taking the **** like this.

might expect this from some rogue traders (not that I have much to compare against :p ) but this is supposedly a popular franchised dealer....bunch of ***** really. :(

/sigh

still browsing el autotrader though :p

That's really not on, I would write a letter to the area manager/higher. To be messed around to this level at a franchised dealer is BS.

On another note, anyone had any dealings with stage 1 remaps?
Looking into a stage 1 for my A3 8P 2.0 TFSI DSG, had a look at the Bluefin and REVO mods.
Anyone had any experience with these?
I think I prefer the look of the Bluefins as it seems that you can go back to stock pretty easily, however the REVO can give you different settings.

ay, looking into it. keeping some notes of the goings on to send them.

I believe you can go back to stock easily with the REVO kit too, but requires the possible additional purchase of their serial switch (has stock and then a few maps to choose from)

also I think I'm correct in saying that isn't the bluefin just a generic map (obviously optimised and tested on a number of vehicles so is safe...) where as the REVO will be tuned specifically for your engine, with some input from yourself (saying you only want a more modest tuen then max out everything for example)

edit/update: The garage finally gone ahead and refunded me my deposit :D only about 2 weeks after they initially said they would do it, and over a week from when I was told be various staff members "yep.... it's definitely done" :p

Right guys, need some advice.

I was considering either; GTI Edition 30, MK5 R32, S3 or MK2 TT.

Storytime
As I'm getting older I wanted something that was fun but also comfortable, with leathers, steering controls, good audio etc.

I previously owned the R32 but sold it as despite the great V6 soundtrack and leathers, it soon became apparent I wanted more performance. I then went on to various cars such as a VXR Nurburgring and two Imprezas, the latter running close to 400BHP. Something has now "snapped" inside me, likely old age, where I'm now favouring comfort over outright perfomance.

I've always admired the S3 from afar but has been well out of my price range. I currently have £10K to spend and naively hoped I could find an S3. Erm no.

If I increased my budget to max £12K, would I find a good S3? It seems to land me just before the 2008 facelift on the 2007 models, which is bloody annoying as dont like the idea of owning a pre-facelift model purely out of stupid pride. Is it worth killing myself and spending more on the facelift?

The fall back is the MK2 TT, R32 or Edition 30. However in my mind;

R32 - already owned, don't imagine I'll get any real pleasure in owning something a second time. Prefer a turbo shove than creamy linear naturally aspirated power.

Edition 30 - Only half leather and whilst I prefer the front end to the R32 Passat style grille, the rear end is drab compared to the R32.

MK2 TT - The wildcard. Seems to be cheaper than the S3 which I dont really understand why. It appears to tick the boxes; leather, turbo, audio, performance. So really, whats the catch and what makes the S3 a better choice on the proviso 2 seats is good enough for me?

Why not a 2.0T Quattro A3? Tunes well, not scraping the bottom of the s3 barrel, more practical than the tt.

Considered the A3 but they look like a poverty spec, unless I'm looking at the wrong models? I don't really understand the whole "S-line" "Black Edition" etc model layout Audi have.

Some of the A3 I have seen do appear to have the nice flat bottom steering wheel and things but can't seem to figure out whether they are optional extras, model specific or owner modifications?

A S-Line basically means it's the same trim level as the S3 with a few minor differences. For example on the new S3 it has aluminium wing mirrors compared to an s-line a3 however pretty much everything else is the same. Black edition is the top of the range styling. You can get SE A3s which are not as good to look at (imo) and come with less features as standard. Steering wheels are optionable in audis i.e. they all come with one but some a different to others.

Oh and if your looking for comfort over outright speed, while the TT doesn't have outright speed it also doesn't have comfort. Also, if it's not a TTRS then it's a hairdressers car.

Thats extremely helpful thanks, see when I think Audi it's the Black Edition style ones I have in mind, something like;

Love these wheels! Must have them, are they model specific?

Dare I ask, if I considered a dirty diesel, what are they like? I vowed never to have diesel but the modern turbo diesel to feel quite torquey in the low rev ranges.

In terms of just performance or trim level also?
Both, as mentioned the S-Line TT/A3 have roughly the same trim as the TTS/S3, but minus the 267bhp engine (though the standard 2l TFSI was no slouch either). TTS/S3 also have Quattro (Haldex version) as standard, which is an option on the TT and not sure if it was even available on the A3.

Edit: Looks A3 had Quattro as well from what Minstadave is saying, can't think of ever seeing one on the road!

Got another opinion on the horrible clattery noise - AC compressor on its way out.
Audi mechanic reckons it's that because you can feel the liquid being pumped irregularly through one of the pipe.

Working in Sweden for a few weeks and got a lolquote of £1500.
He seemed pretty confident it was the AC compressor but I was hoping it was the aux belt tensioner :(
