Audi owners in here!

I've done 6000km since I bought the S3 and I totally forgot to check the oil until waiting for a ferry this afternoon. It's at the minimum, so that's 1litre over 6000km which doesn't seem too bad?

Either way, doesn't the DIS normally have a CHECK OIL light?
What oil should I use for the 2.0TFSI ?

Use the oil in the boot?
My dealer checks the oil each time I have it washed, hasn't needed any yet, but they have a container of oil in the boot pack for use when it needs it, and they replace as it is used.
So they told me anyway.

Better than I was expecting zuludawn. Better than I was getting in my 2.0 TDI 177 (well, about the same in all honesty, a few tenths more I guess).

A question that should have really been asked before purchase I would imagine? Although I'm sure I have mentioned before the fuel economy issues on modern Audi diesels...

As long as I get over 35mpg I'm happy, which is what I'm getting right now on average but that does include a lot of hoofing it around as I'm enjoying the engine. Pretty sure that will creep up as my right foot loses some weight. I seem to get around 40 when doing 80 on the motorway.

My A5 can return up to mid 40's, generally through A roads and my heavish right foot I get around 38-40 mpg.

Mine's 7 years old and has done 115,000 miles. Other than some bolts, spanners and a compressor, there's not a lot in the boot ;)

Also- you go to your dealer to get your car washed?

Not sure I posted in here yet.
Mrs wanted a new car, and after much deliberation, we settled on this:

Audi A4 2.0 TFSI S-Line Quattro Special Edition

Have driven it a fair amount now, and it really is a lovely car to drive. Suspension is a bit solid, but it really feels great when pushing on. It feels faster than my Jag, but I suspect this is the down to the petrol turbo feel, rather than the actual performance. Still, really makes it a fun drive.

The only issues with it were/are, the air-con stinks for the first few seconds! I have changed the cabin filter, and run an air-con bomb in the car which has helped, but it is still there!! Any ideas?

The other issue was the catch for the centre console was broken, and getting a replacement seemed difficult. I either had to buy a whole new console, or a whole new padded part. In the end I managed to find a shapeways 3d printed replacement for the catch itself, including the spring. Installed this the other day, and it works well. The colour match is not perfect, but it is not really visible and solves the problem!

Another quick thing, what is with the way the handbrake is blocked by the centre console? Its very unusual and seems like a total function fail in the design process?! I can't be the only one to have noticed this!

The only electric handbrake I tried before was on an Insignia I'd hired and it was so bad I returned the car to the hire company. Hopefully it was just crappy Vauxhall quality so on our well made Audi's it's not such a nightmare.

;)

Ah didnt realise it was an old vehicle, when you said you had done 6 k miles.
Anyway, yes I get washed at the dealers, it was part of the package, the dealers is only a couple of miles from me suits well.
I sit have a coffee as part of their saturday morning car wash club.
Then every six montsh they give it a full valet, and will do any other car you have every twelve.
Tiss handy, but if they get you in the habit, they know you'll be there to prey upon when renewal time comes up.

Good business sence for them.

So Audi in Cheltenham said it'd be £160 to update my MMI and Sat Nav, Audi in Hereford want £300.

Bit steep? Anyone had theirs done, if so what did you pay?

Also managed 40.3 mpg on the way home, went a different (and longer way) which involves more motorway. Happier with that. :)

£160 sounds like the cost of the update CD/DVD alone. What are both saying about the work involved. As I understand it the DVD can be installed but to get it activated needs a Master tech to access the Audi database and I suspect that's the costly bit?

Andi.
