Audi owners in here!

Test drove an S1 and an S3 today. Seriously impressed with the S3. The S1 was also epic, but the kicker was that even with the seat all the way back, my knee was still brushing against the steering wheel when using the clutch. The S3 had a much more comfortable driving position, it felt more stable, and it still moved like shift off a shovel.

I'm going to sleep on it, but I think I've pretty much decided to get an S3. My current car is a 22 year old vauxhall astra, so this will be one hell of a step up.

Very nice :) Think you'll get the S3 hatch or the saloon?

I have an S1 now and my next car will almost certainly be an S3. Whilst the press bangs on about how the Golf R drives better, the amount of times I drive in a sporty manner is far outweighed by the amount of times I have to look at the interior.

I was in Audi Centre West London this morning and had a really good look at the new TT Roadster. There's something a little odd about having a full LCD instrument cluster and nothing in the middle of the dash. It's a sea of, admittedly nice quality, black plastic.

I'm pretty sure I'll be doing it though!

The TT MMI steering wheel controls works like this basically and they look similar if not the same as your A4 wheel. Under the wiper stalk there is a button and one the side a rocker switch which controls the DIS.

If there is no setting in the DIS or MMI for you to sort this out then perhaps the steering wheel is not coded correctly for the car?

I think the hatch. The saloon is a couple of grand extra, and I just can't justify that to myself.

But yeah. A hatchback with 300 horses under the bonnet and a good comfortable ride. I have driven it, I want it. I'm almost certainly going to buy it.

Worth noting that the saloon comes with more kit as standard however.

19" wheels, audi magnetic ride (adjustable suspension), I'm not sure if there is anything else off the top of my head.

I did not know that. However, neither of those are options I have any particular interest in. The magnetic suspension in particular sounds like a thing of questionable utility and probably eye-wateringly expensive to repair when it breaks.

This is the same as the A3. The A4 doesn't automatically scroll through stations though, you need to scroll through the station names list and then select one, weirdly... Just having trouble with the 'selecting' part :p

Scroll to station, press scroll wheel (it's also a button).

I think I tried this... maybe I didnt press hard enough! Will attempt again in the morning and report back!

Nope, aside from the saloon having completely different body panels than the sb that's it...

Naff TTRS at Pistonheads Sunday Service.

I do fancy one in a few years time but would not want it without a warranty. :)

Picked up a 2011 TT today. 2.0 T S-line. For the girlfriend. Seems decent and a lot better put together than her last car.

Awaits comments about 'should have bought a golf, more practical, TT is a more expensive compromised golf / a3' etc etc.

Any reason as to why? For a performance car they have very good running costs for the amount of performance and potential performance.

Because it is more expensive then the standard TT if something goes wrong, e.g. brakes.
