Audi owners in here!

If DAB comes standard on the new A3 I assume it will on the new A4.

It was still an option when the new A3 was launched but became standard shortly thereafter so I'd presume this is a standard policy for Audi and all new models will get it as standard.

They also made TPMS standard but that's now a legal requirement I believe.

So I received a letter from the Audi importer notifying me of the software issue on my car. They obviously had no idea of the issue and are waiting for VW to issue a notice to rectify it. I'll have to go to Audi to have the software updated when VW give them the go-ahead.

What will it actually entail? What are the implications of the software update?

They're saying 1.6l TDI engines need a physical modification and software mod (at least VW versions of it), 2.0 TDI are just a software patch. They've not said yet what the end result is as regards, mpg/power/emissions.

Well just received my letter confirming my A4 2.0 tdi is affected, must have missed something the last few weeks as I have been out the country but I originally read it was only the A3 affected.
Oh well just another thing to add to the list since I bought it 2 months ago or so.

Lol.....halfway through typing this I just received a phone call from Audi Tamworth about the missing emergency key I have been chasing since I bought the car, only been four phone calls so far. Now he tells me he doesn't think it can be ordered and may need to be decoded from the vehicle. Presume they will recode/supply new key.

Absolute terrible service from Tamworth so far and I have an idea why, was tipped off on this forum about cancelling my PCP within a week of buying it and getting to keep the £1000 discount and free services they offered me.....instead of the "cancel in about 7 months" that Audi told me. Obviously the salesman missed out on his kickback.

Just received my letter too :-(

I had the same problem of the "missing emergency key" and was told it couldn't be ordered etc. That turned out to be complete bull. Get in touch with Audi UK, they sorted the problem out for me, gave the dealer a kick up the backside and gave me a free service for the inconvenience caused.

Im hoping our 1.6 tdi seat Leon doesnt fall into the recall.
It doesnt like hills as it is. so god knows what it will be like if they need to "fix" it..

Ive always said my A4 comes up the hills on the way home better than the Leon and the A4 is an old 1997 1.9 tdi quattro with 200k on the clock.
the only plus point in my eyes with the Leon is the mpg but then the Audi is constant 4 wheel drive and great for the winter

My 1.6TDI A3 manages hills fine? If it's the 110PS 1.6 it shouldn't be affected.

yip its the 110PS

I may just be comparing it to my A4 which has been chipped, bigger turbo, bigger nozzles and a few bits more...

It will climb the hills in top gear and maintain speed and not struggle where as the seat needs to be dropped down a gear and will drop speed.

I wouldnt say it struggles but its just not as good as the A4

The aftersales manager called the wife just after I left for work at about 1.30 and said he has one on order for us and should be here in 3 weeks or so.

I didnt realise you can do it yourself. They told me the process includes linking the key to a main frame in Germany:confused:

it may be different for the new stuff but ive done cars up to 2008.
use vag tacho to read the immobiliser code then use vcds to program the new key.

Yes I think the 2008 onwards are different. After they had the security scare on watchdog things were tightened up. I think that's one of the reasons the replacements are hard to get.

a quick google.. and a look on a few obd sites you can still get software or a tool to pull the skc code from the newer stuff and once you have the skc code you can then use vcds to program a new key.

the software or the tool isint cheap but if you were planning on doing a few it would be worth it.

I might invest in this as it would pay for itself through time if I was to offer this service for newer vag stuff
