Audi owners in here!

Of course the issue you now face is that if the leak is slight, the system will "work" after it gets gassed, but might fail again down the line.

That is a fair point. I'll press them to inspect it when I hand the car over. They are having to check a few other niggles too anyway so they may as well.

Well I've got an invite to Oulton Park to drive the entire RS range and R8 V10 Plus new version in July. Wonder if they will have the TTRS there for a go? When I bought my R8 I made it clear I expected invites to these days and to be fair, 2 weeks later, first invite arrived. :D

New A4...

I have one of these on loan (though presently it's sitting at Heathrow) and ironically the chap who is driving me around SA at the moment also has one. In a word, impressed! It seems to be Audi have moved some of their game on significantly. The ride in the new A4 and the sound proofing (read refinement) is really good and a big move on for Audi, based on my previous experience.

Interior is a bit of a mess I feel but the systems are impressing, gearbox (embarrassed to admit I don't know if it's DCT or Auto) is superb, diesel engine is nice, petrol less so and it actually drives OK. The steering and brakes are still Audi standard but I think it's quite a strong competitor to BMW and Mercedes if you need a car to blast up and down motorways.

Better.

I've agreed to pay for a regas provided they wave the cost if it doesn't fix the issue.

I understand it is expected every two years but for the AC to make no difference at all after under two years seems odd to me.

Surely it still under warranty anyway?

Rather than just getting them to regas it, surely they should be investigating it as a fault?

They basically said they believe it needs a regas and won't class it as a fault until it's been done.

Although in a turn of events my AC worked this morning, so definitely doesn't need a regas.

No good speculating then, needs to go in and have a through diagnostic on the system, could quite easily be a sensor. And no, a regas is not covered by the warranty unless a fault has caused it.

I'm currently torn. Do I go new A4, knowing that the technology is newer, but the options list is prohibitively expensive, or do I go A6, knowing that it's older (and reaching the end of it's lifespan), but end up with a higher specified car for similar outlay.

Would it make any difference if the A4 were the 2.0TFSI Quattro?

A6 would obviously have to be a diesel, as that's now all they do :(

Outside option is still an A3 saloon, but the boot space is just fractionally too small IMO, shame as it's the best looking of the 3.

I had to cancel due to house purchase, and whilst I'd love to get back on that bandwagon when the facelift becomes available, I can't justify the increase in cost, both to buy and to run.

I tried both the A6 and new A4 Avant's, to replace my B8.5 Co Car, I came to the conclusion that both were too similar to what im replacing, A6 has better quality leather but the infotainment is fairly similar, and new A4, is a bit nicer than the outgoing model, but the old failings are still there, poor ride and so-so steering. The tech in the S-Line didnt seem all that much of a step up i felt.

But like yourself, I found the options list ridiculously expensive, I have B&O in mine and to have similar its a small fortune. same for the better NAV, i have MMI 3g in mine, and again on the new one, the equivalent is a pretty penny!

I'd have thought surely by needing a 4x4 you'd rather the torque of the diesel?

Not to mention that the diesel also makes more power (granted the petrol is a whole 0.3s quicker to 62).

I'd take S-Tronic over manual though.
