I love the TTS. My friend recently bought a 2008 roadster. It's plenty quick and very solid feeling - especially for a relatively small car.

I was torn between getting one of these or my current S5 convertible. It was the extra comfort/refinement of the S5 that won me over in the end - however I still get the urge for the two-seater experience of the TTS every now and then!

A6 owner and buff here.

Auto A6s were CVT until 2014 when the multitronic unit was replaced by the current S-Tronic gearbox which is a DSG, much nicer to drive and probably more reliable too.

For that reason I'd recommend something from 2014 onwards but obviously the budget would need to be increased for a like-for-like car.

Nowt wrong with wanting 20" wheels on a 2.0 either, they look great.

Not all of the pre 2014 A6 were multitronic. Most of the 3.0L Quattro's came with the S-Tronic gearbox including the 204PS, 245PS, 272PS and 313PS Bi-Turbo.

Yeah true forgot that. From AT looks like pre 2015 205 bhp cars were multitronic, 245 were s tronic and as now, the biturbo is the ZF torque converter.

So I've had my TTS for a week now and I love it. I'm finding excuses to go for a drive and seriously cannot wait for the weather to warm up so I can have the roof down more than I currently do. I'm actually finding I prefer the drive of the TTS in comparison to the Mondeo. A more comfortable ride for sure, with comfort suspension and haven't tried sport yet. Gear box is smooth and easy, power delivery is superb and love covered carparks and driving through tunnels.

The only annoyance is the lack of depth with the audio so I will be, at some point, fitting a sub. This will either be a small compact unit under the passenger seat or removing the mids behind the 2 seats for subs.

All in all, a cracking car, love it :D :D

OMG really? :p

Wouldn't have thought that to be true for a second!

Seriously though, loved the TTS roadster Audi loaned me whilst I was awaiting delivery of my S3, and had I been able to cope with the comparative lack of practicality, I'd have likely gone with the TTS roadster.

My view of Audi's customer service, low enough as it was is now in the gutter. Around four weeks ago when my R8 was being MOT'd at my local centre 1 mile from home, I got under the car and noticed a small amount of oil at the front, underneath of the engine. I picked up the phone immediately (when it was still on the ramp) and booked it in for a check at the Audi dealership I bought the car from and who have worked on the car and serviced the car in my ownership. Two weeks ago I delivered the car to them for diagnosis of the problem and then waited. First week passed and after a couple of chase calls and consistent "Robin the R8 tech is still unsure and needs to investigate more into the engine" we were in week two. Tuesday last week I phoned up and asked to speak with service and the middle manager called me back. In simple terms her confirmed that bar a quick look when I delivered it they had not really had/put the time into working the problem and that all of Thursday and if needs be Friday last week was put aside to do this. As you can imagine I went off on that but remained civil and told them I wanted at worst a diagnosis by Friday. To be fair I got that, was told it was some pipes (simple terms) at the top of the engine that would need replacing and that the warranty firm (that'll be Audi) needs to confirm the work. It wasn't until this PM and another email, this time copied to a Director of the group that owns the dealership did I get the warranty element put to bed, which frankly is bloody annoying. I have a full Audi extended warranty, when the car was delivered to them it was still in the manufacturers warranty anyway but this should not matter. Seems they were not aware of my renewed warranty.

I now have another 2 weeks at least before the parts arrive (they would not order them early until Audi confirmed the warranty cover!!!) and no clear timescale on where I get my car back. Suffice to say the dealer will not get my business again, I have a new approach on that front which will deal with the stupid Audi process by sticking a specialist into the role of liaison with the dealership which works well as they can undertake warranty work. I have also Tweeted out to Audi and today Audi Group came back to me and I now have a DM into them, making it clear that I don't intend to spend any time speaking to the UK CS organisation which is utterly useless. I have also spoken with some friends who run R8's and I think without question they all talk the same story of terrible Audi dealers. Let's see who from Audi comes back to me but this is the service from Audi has been dire and involves a total lack of understanding their customer and what good effortless service should look like.

Puts me off buying a new R8.

My experiences were similar, although it was with my inferior TT RS ;). After I bought the TT RS I tried to buy a service contract, was told I would get a call back multiple times and after chasing 3 times I gave up. Tried going in multiple times to sort a few niggling issues out whilst under warranty and constantly had to chase them. Tried getting 4 new tyres from them and the same issue, constantly chased them and in the end I bought elsewhere. I tried to get my warranty extended through them, called them up, gave my details (make, model, registration) and got told I would get a call back. Had to chase multiple times to get the call back only to be greeted by someone claiming they do the warranty and they were asking for all my details again but claimed they had a price. Turns out they didn't know my car was the RS model and the warranty they were trying to sell me was the dealership warranty. The dealership warranty didn't cover the RS models. After wasting my time he advised I should just do it via the Audi website. My black tailpipes had started to go after 2 years of ownership, the car was just over 3 years old and although they weren't in bad condition they were no longer as easy to bring back up to a good standard, I bought a new set and within 2 months they were peeling. I popped in to get a warranty claim logged and got told that it's something I wash my car with (it's all PH neutral, nothing else affected and my ceramic coating is still going strong), they then said I didn't clean them often enough and that's what caused the issue, they then changed their tune and said you have to clean them with Audi's special cleaning product. I was promised a call back twice and didn't get one. Whilst all this was happening I enquired about buying a RS4, they were more interested in selling me a S4 that was in stock and thought I was weird for not wanting it.

Maybe I was expecting too much from the brand but it's left me with a sour taste in my mouth.

I swear I saw an RS3 painted to look like an A1 Quattro (the white and black one) this morning. It sounded pretty aggressive and very much like a 5-pot so I can't imagine it was an S1.
It was on the other side of the road behind some trees, so couldn't get a proper look, but does such a thing exist? It had white turbine wheels, black paint in the same places as the A1 Quattro and was on Luxembourg plates..

Custom mods or have Audi released an RS3 Quattro jobby?

Well I have now moved the problem to Audi Global and they have passed me across to the UK CEO's office who are now investigating my concerns. I have also done a bit of digging with some fellow R8 owners, current and previous and sadly they reflect exactly the same experiences as me. Audi do not understand the R8 enough, there is a reliance to hand off to Germany for diagnostics for anything serious and they are miles off understanding what a supercar customer tends to expect. I am not talking about better coffee, nicer seats in the lobby, a keyring that says R8. I am talking about doing what you say when you say and not finding reason not to do things, but finding reasons how to and not relying on your customer phoning you every week for an update. Audi seems to have taken this seriously, I have other stories which I can't share here but let's see where they go with this. I have asked for nothing specific outside of giving me a better level of service next time, let's see how they plan to delight me as I have a view on what they have done for others.

I HATE bad service.

I currently have a hateful A3 diesel as my A6 is in for a service, and HOW THE **** do you stop the satnav from rotating with the driver? I've changed the setting to "2D North Facing" but it insists on changing to driver-oriented. Yes, I'm weird for having 2D north facing, but that's what I like. What the actual ****???

Also, they notified me that the front discs need changing as well as the pads. €650 for front discs and pads. LOL no thx.

Looking at 2014 A4 Avant SE technik 1.8tfsi as a replacement family car. Seems to have all the toys, leather and nav which is a nice addition. Only around 20k miles on the clock. Looked at other cars and the Audi just ticks all the boxes for us. It's replacing a 12 year old V40.

Any major things to look out for? I get discounted rates on 3rd party warranty, wondering if that would be necessary, though never needed it on past cars.

Just got a 63 plate A6 black edition, what is the maximum SD card we can use, Audi says 32GB, googling suggests anything upto 128GB?

Wife has an IPhone would it be better to have all music on that and connect through that - all I'm looking for is least hassle way of her having access to all her music and it be accessible through the cars MMI.

I've got a 32gb in my 13 plate but thought it would take 64gb, to be honest I need to sort it out as scrolling through a billion folders and songs with the click wheel can be a bit slow. Phone is a better option with spotify as at least then you can use voice.

I've not tried with two SD cards in though - I thought I read one was reserved for software updating / nav but have got the HDD nav.

Stuck a 128GB card in all appears to be working - As you say it could do with a bit of thought about how to index them on the SD card but all working at the moment.
