Audi owners in here!

I'm not really sure about the new Q7. It looks a bit awkward.

I suppose one benefit is that Audi's product lifecycle is so long that you could buy one now and still be in a current shape car in 10 years time...

Exactly. There's something not right about it, it's too square/angular.

I'm not entirely sure about Audi's new design direction. I'm not a fan of the new A5 either - the front is just too 'pointy'.

You may joke but that's a concern for many people. It's all very well pumping out new models or facelifts every couple of years but it doesn't help instill brand loyalty when people feel their brand new car has been superseded before the warranty runs out.

Quite but there is a balance to be struck or you end up selling stuff like this for £36k:

I'd half expect to hear Tony Blair on the radio when driving that :D

4.2 !!
tax is only £305 a year? thats not bad
not sure i could handle the MPG that low though lol
on my 6 mile commute at 6am im getting 31 currently from my standard 1.8 Focus mk 2.5 (because of the distance)would it make much difference really?

Ha ha ha. As I said, mpg wise, there is only a few in it between the 4.2 and the 3.2. I had a 2.8 4x4 Golf a few years back, and it only cost me 2-3 mpg, on average over my ownership of either, to swap to the 4.2 S4. But you REALLY notice the extra 100 or so BHP you get with the 4.2. I averaged around 23 mpg in my S4 compared to 26 in the 2.8 V6. I only averaged around 27 or so in my 330i's. So you probably aren't looking at huge fuel cost differences between that 3.2 A3 and a 4.2 S4. Of course, there may well be other costs to consider, but the S4 doesn't have the RS tax on its components. It is essentially the BMW 335i competitor, not the M3. And for VED they are probably pretty much exactly the same.

If you can't afford to fuel a S4 then you cant really afford to fuel a V6, as in my experience, there was very little difference between them.

After a bit of a delay got round to having the S-Line springs and dampers fitted to the wife's 14 plate A3 184 Tdi Quattro, I'd picked the items up from an eBay seller who didn't like the firmer ride on their brand new car. They had done about a 1000 miles and then paid the dealer around 2K to put it on the standard soft set up, which ours had, even though its an S-Line.

Local VASS specialist did the work and charged an hour per corner, which seems pretty good to me. As I only paid 100 quid for the parts it been a well worth it. Instantly after the wife drove it home she was pleased with the improvement, more so the following day after using it for work. I got to drive a short trip today, don't understand how someone could think it's too stiff, ride is much better, less like a boat, less under steer and feels much better on the road rather rolling around. £360 quid well spent. If anyone wants the soft set up they are listed or PM me, I just want them out the way.

I think the issue is, that whilst it's undeniable that the stiffer setup is better for pressing on, and certainly not an issue where the roads are well kept, it's not a particularly nice setup where the roads are potholed and uneven. Undulation is not the friend of the stiffer passive Audi setups. The best you can hope for on an 8V platform from Audi is Magnetic Ride, best of both worlds, but still not the most pliant or well-rounded of setups.

Had I gone for an S3 hatch or sportback, I'd have definitely specced Magnetic Ride. Fortunately it's standard on the S3 Saloon.

It's really rather nice inside too - the leather is pretty good quality. The nav and MMI seems easy enough to navigate and use.

Need to work out how to update the maps (or whether or not they need updating). Love the traffic info it has though, seems to work pretty well. DAB is also such a nice improvement!

It's the 1.8TFSI - it's a family wagon so wasn't going to go for anything too lary.

@paradigm sent you a trust email - hope you don't mind :)

Found a nice '15 S-Line Q7 up for £43k, 23k miles on the clock. No air suspension but has power door closure, virtual cockpit, Bose, phone box, and heads up display over and above the base spec (which includes 4 zone climate and reversing camera).

If I finance if with the optimal combo of cash, p/x, 0% credit card, personal loan, and PCP, I reckon I can get monthly payments down to £350 which seems rather good.

Just bought a rather nice A6 sline 2 litre diesel with technology pack upgrades. It's a 2013 model and comes with park assist which I had a good play around with.

I was going to buy a Q5 or Q7 but I couldn't get comfy in either of them due to my back. I lowered the seat as much as I could and put the steering wheel to my most comfortable position but it still felt crap. Also test drove equivalent bmw 5 and 3 series and for the same money the interiors where dull as dishwater with poor seats. Lumbar support was my biggest requirement when looking and the A6 ticked all the boxes I could think of, it's even the colour I wanted (gunmetal grey).

Picking it up tomorrow, proper chuffed, especially after the nightmare I had with my 645ci recently.

Yea the A6 interior is really dynamic and exciting in ways that a 5 series just isn't. It's like a party in there :D

I was very surprised by it, especially the weird looking "metal" around the gear shifter that kinda looked like a large stretched golf ball lol. Odd design choice. Guessing the complete lack of buttons is due to everything going through idrive like the old 6 series?

EML decided to light up just as we were setting out on holiday. Hopefully it is 'just' the DPF Pressure sensor as the mechanic said. Common problem on 2.0 TDIs apparently. As long as it is just that, and nothing related to the poxy recall thing I had done the other week, I'll be (relatively) happy.

Shame it's cost me rather a lot in car rental, as the breakdown service contract with Audi are limited to Group B and no driving abroad..

Dear God it's uglier than I thought! Looks more like a Kia or a Ssangyong!

Before my car went in for a service (and diesel-gate BS), you could open/close all windows using the unlock/lock buttons on the keyfob. This is no longer possible. WTF?
