Audi owners in here!

I just got rid of my S4 Avant after 6 months actually.
It is one hell of a car, solid, well built and extremely capable of covering ground very quickly with a cargo area full of whatever. However, coming from a long line of cars in the next size bracket up (A6/5 series) I couldn’t adjust to the downgrade of refinement, comfort and ride quality that the extra few cm of wheelbase bring.
The S4 is “comfortable” car but you are always aware of it erring on the side of sportiness, even in comfort with the soundaktor off and the gearbox/steering being lazy.
 
Audi roadside assistance has been called. Wife got in the car this morning and drove to the end of the road and was then given a warning message.

Drive system: fault.

Lets hope its not too serious. My A4 B9 was rendered imobile with a gearbox malfunction after only 1100 miles. Turned out it was the park soleniod that had failed...

Just an ECU fault due to out of date software, so it's been updated. However, this has introduced an error code for the side / exit assist system which they are now looking at.

Edit: Fixed, just needed to disconnect the battery to do a proper reset.

Hopefully you'll get it back soon all working. But how does out of date software suddenly cause an error when the car has been working fine? B9's are not equipped to update anything other than the nav maps online..

No idea. This was all done by Audi roadside assistance so car was fixed on my drive.

The likelihood is that it was only ever a sensor problem, the newer software will just have different thresholds (or recurrences) before triggering an error.

I had similar on my S3, the gearbox locked itself into 2nd and 3rd (after the car botched a change between 1st and 2nd). Turning the car off and back on put the gearbox back into normal mode, and Audi updated the firmware when I took it in the next day.
 
I am certainly considering a TTRS as next car. although I am getting more tempted to do an interim change and go for a TTS in 2 years or so.
Then wait a bit for the new model (MK4) which will probably be in about 4 years.
The TT is just having a facelift (which looks worse to me) so prices may fall a little for some prefacelift.

The TTRS vs the R8 are really different cars. For me an R8 wouldn't work, i already struggle to avoid scratches with my TT as driving down country lanes is 75% of my usage. That whole extra 10cm of width would be in the hedges :(

There is still quite a significant premium attached to the TTRS over a stock TTS. If you going to tune the TTRS then its a great start point. If your "just" after TTRS levels of power then you can get that for a couple of K euros on a TTS.

However if you do go TTRS then take a look at this. There is a link to the stage 1 tune as well, but this is what you need for your daily driver TTRS ;)

Oh, quite a few into TT also mention considering the S5 as its also in the same sort of ballpark, must admit they do look nice, if want more (usable) seats
 
The problem is that I will probably still want an R8. A TTRS is also a more practical commuting car, albeit I have a very short commute. My wife has a TTS, might look a little weird with two TTs on the drive. I also worry about having a TTRS or R8 on the drive in full view.

I know what you mean about on the drive depends on your area I guess. I know near me are numerous just as stealable cars, RS5, plenty of big US based ones etc
oddly the only direct crime I know of happened to a neighbour a week ago, garage broken into to steal a couple of specialised bikes. They even put something over the windscreen of my other halves car to block her dashcam. When we went to view the footage you saw a black thing, look a bit like a rubber mat virtually covering the camera, Did this twice (when going on and being removed we believe)

The police think it was a pro job as they opened and relocked the garage door.

Edit, I know what you mean about the R8, it is a different league, I would seriously consider, but as I say I have enough of an issue with the width of a TT so an R8 I know I would muller the passenger side. I just cant being myself to do it!
 
Two of my friends, the lads I go to the Nurburgring with, had cars taken off their drives last week. One in London (BMW M2 key cloned BMW key) one in Solihull (AMG A45 break in to steal keys). I'm so glad I live where I live as even when the criminals fitted a tracking device to my car they still couldn't find my house!

For the Chinese market. Huge rear legroom is a demand for some reason. Something to do with power/prestige whatever. Quite a few L versions of normal cars over there.

Hence the original Superb being based on the Chinese Passat.
 
Hello, can anybody tell me if these are the correct spark plugs for a 2010 Audi S5 V6T convertible?

NGK PFR8S8EG (94460) - Laser Platinum Spark Plug

I have used the NGK part finder and it says to use the above, but if i use the website part finder on the website i want to purchase from (opie oils) it says to use these:

NGK PFR6X-11 (5757) - Laser Platinum Spark Plug

Which ones are the correct ones or are there different / better spark plugs i should be using?
 
Does anyone here have any experience of the 1.4 TFSI Q3? It's on my short list and wanted some owners opinions. Is the engine too small or powerful enough (coming from a 2.0 GTI)? Are you happy with the Q3?
