Audi owners in here!

The wheel size and S-Line set up will have done this car no favours and I would expect softer suspension and smaller wheels would have a positive impact on my experience. The thing is I know sports cars can be made to handle well and ride well, Audi outside of the RS4 I had, which was really very good, have been utterly crap at getting this balance right. They seem to make cars that are stiff, no give but handle meh or cars that are soft and spongy that also handle meh. Put simply, they seem to build cars for other roads, not English ones.

They are waking up to softer suspension a bit more now. On the previous A3, the suspension went hand in hand with the trim level you selected, whereas on the new model, you can change it, so for example you could have an S-Line with the softest SE suspension.

Of course a large part of it is still down to the larger wheels and lower profile tyres but that's hardly Audis fault as it's what the market wants these days.

FAO TWFox, you'll be happy to know on my 7 hour trip back from Inverness I averaged 56mpg in my 2tdi a3, much better than the usual 35mpg i get :p

Been left with my folks S5 for a few days, I know people bemoan them as not being as good as their BMW equivalent but its such a lovely car.

Wife has bad back problems and the seats in it are perfect for her, she's got the hump because I won't buy her one :p

Might have to see what else in the Audi range uses them as think I've seen them used in quite a few models, and did fancy an S3 next year.

But the S5 has been great to play around in, even made the drive back from Reading last night enjoyable.

If they are the better S5 seats they don't come with the current S3 and I doubt they are the bucket seats :D. Not sure if they are an option in the S3 that is part of the latest 8V model.

Yeah I've never seen them in an S3 as they aren't the recaro buckets, but they don't have a seperate hed rest like the normal ones. So comfy though.

Joining the Audi owners club shortly.

Placed an order today for a 2013 A3 Sportback S-Line.

Apparently the demand is high at the moment, so I have a short wait before I take delivery.

Driving one of those at the moment (2012) nice drive, I do find the steering a little too wired at times though....hope you didn't get the BOSE speaker option - Autopilot is the worst thing known to man! and I was glad to take a downgrade on my new car in that department.

BTW prepare for a long wait, as iv said before my A1 was due to be delivered in July and got pushed back to September.... delays are a common problem at Audi.

I am currently thinking of joining the Audi club

My current mode of transport is a 335i M-Sport coupe, but I have got a little bored with it so it time for a change

Have been really torn on what car to replace the BMW with - an audi is really closest alternative with keeping the build quality etc..

Currently undecided between a new S3 saloon or a nearly new S4 saloon or avant in black spec , the S4's are a little hard to find in the right spec and price, and the S3 saloon nobody can give me a date when I could get my hands on one

PG

I would be absolutely amazed if an S3 or an S4 would alleviate 'boredom' you feel with a 335i. It's a better drivers car than both of those. If you are honestly bored with something like a 335i then I suspect it's replacement needs to be something a little more interesting than an Audi. The S4 Saloon is especially is basically the same thing - forced induction 3 litre - it's even really the same generation of car (Audi's A4 is now really getting on) to your 335i.

Sounds like you have the old audi a3 as they don't do the Bose sound system in the new A3 they got rid of it for the 8v and have the base sound system, audi sound system or the 800 quid B+O system which I have in my 8v which is fantastic.

I have the Bose autopilot system and at first it was a pain in the arse. Now I find it very good and it doesn't interfere as much as when I had the crap iPod interface now I'm using SD cards.

Bluetooth is the best way of doing music imo. As long as my phone is in my pocket then as soon as I turn on the car my music starts playing. Turn the car off and take the key out and my phone automatically pauses the music and goes back to vibrate mode. It's pretty swish.

Found out today that by pressing and holding the locking fob you can move the windows up and down...such a noob!!

Yeah after owning my A3 after 5 weeks I found this out by playing through the system settings within my AMI

I play all my most through downloaded tracks on spotify. By default it does play my local songs but wish it used spotify first. Maybe there is a way I can adjust this.

If you ever move to a new S3 the mmi in the new A3 is a lot better than it used to be but the ipod system is the same as the sd playback now and works just as well from the main screen or the trip computer for selecting tracks etc

I did this once by accident and didn't notice and left the window open all night. I was seriously confused the next day until i worked out what I had done :p

No idea why or how I've missed this thread before.

Am looking for any advice as I'm thinking of getting an S4 3.2, would like the auto so am looking for any pros/cons on the auto and what options that I should be looking for that are must haves.

Not decided on a budget yet and this may not occur as I overheard the wife talking about paying of my daughters student loan the other day but until then I'm going to keep on looking :)
