Audi owners in here!

I really disliked the F30, so that's a no-go. The 1-series is just utterly foul, and the F10, whilst lovely, is too big really, I simply don't need the space, this is why although I like the idea of a new A6, I doubt I'd go for it.

What I'd really like is a 6-cylinder diesel in the A3 saloon.

But you won't get that. The a6 is an large executive car and the a3 a small family car. Where is the comparison in that?

You looked at the CLA?

I have, and in typical Mercedes fashion, it looks butt ugly, and the Nav was clearly an afterthought.

Comparison? I'm comparing nothing, I'm simply stating what I'd like. Think of it as a diesel S3.

Indeed, I think diesel "S" models are the missing link in Audi's lineup. D3, D4, D5, D6. They'd sell like hotcakes.

Hi, but whatever you like doesn't work in comparing one car in the large executive class to that of a small family runabout. Compare like for like as those cars then will always be on a level playing field. A6 for A3 just doesn't compute as the A3 will never have chance, it isn't meant to...

The Q7 has a 4.2 TDI engine with 340 horses in it.

The Bi-Turbo Diesel in the A6/7/SQ5 is 313 from a 3.0 V6 twin turbo and 460+lbft and offer better economy on top of near identical power. If they could drop that into the next gen A4 I'd be interested in it as a comparison to the 335d.

Came back from a week away to my car not wanting to start. Think I need a new starter.

B6 S4, turns but one click and then nothing. You can wait a bit, eventually kicks in and starts. Hoping not electrical. I'll do some Google lookage.

I do have a new ECT sensor that I need to replace this weekend too, as that keeps intermittently causing the Engine management light on.

I have a feeling I could do with some new bushes up front, as it's not quite as "tight" up front as it was, so I'll order in some bushes for a full front set. I also could do with discs and pads up front (eeek, this is mounting up) so any good places I can source them, without insane postage?

With a new job around the corner - I've been given a car allowance - hooorah.

So, I'm looking at the A5 3.2 td Quattros - What's the absolute must haves in terms of specifications?

For those BMW fans - you can answer that too, I'd be looking at a 335d as well :)

For me.... B&O, DAB, Nav, Panoramic roof, Xenons
Also, it HAS to be quattro. dont bother with the FWD.

You mean the 3.0TDI?

£27000 including a good, for Audi, discount. Daytona Grey is a nice colour but I do wish Audi were a tad more adventurous with their colours though. Too many darks and greys and the reds, in my opinion, aren't very good. To get anything interesting costs over £2000...

Not really followed the thread at all, as I haven't ever thought about owning an Audi until very recently.

The missus and I have been shopping around to replace her current car (03 Convertible Astra). I currently drive a tiny Corsa, which is fine for me as I've not long passed my test.

Anyway. We have a few main points we certainly need. boot space big enough for two medium sized dogs (Siberian Huskies), will fit on the drive (estates tend to be too long!), Low Tax (she currently pays £250+)

we've had a look at loads of different cars and came across the Audi A3 Sportsback. looking at used, not brand new, maybe 2009 - 2011 region.

Just wondering if any owners, past/present of said A3 would be able to tell me what they think/thought of it?

For us it appears to tick all the boxes! big boot, not too long, very low tax, better with fuel!...

You would be better off buying a Mk6 Volkswagen Golf instead. It will be a more modern car - the A3 was introduced 10 years ago and against more modern cars like the Golf (It is built on the platform of an older Golf) it shows its age now. It's a reasonable buy if you want one of the more specialist versions or you are buying an older one but at the money a 2011 A3 commands it's probably the poorest choice you could make unless the only thing that matters to you is an Audi keyring.
