AVB leaves Chelsea (sacked)

Does seem a shame for AVB, this is completely down to the players not getting what they want and lets be honest some absoultey dismall performances from them.

There is only such much a manager can do, the rest of it is up to the team.
Even after the Napoli game Cech said that they goals they let in were mistakes, PLAYERS making mistakes. A manager can not stop them doing such stupid things on the pitch.
Poor positioning, poor marking, lack of decent strikers, lack of creativity, some injuires, off the field antics with a 'racist' captain, players texting a manager from seasons ago. An uprising in the dressing room, anyone that goes there is going to have exactly the same problems.

8 managers in the 9 years that Abramovich has been the owner of Chelsea...says it all...

Chelsea are such a mess it's difficult to know what to say. Villas Boas is far from blameless but sacking him solves nothing. There's no unity at the club whatsoever; ever since Mourinho's second season every manager has stood there while Abramovich, his various advisers and Terry/Lampard make his decisions for him.

What about the players?

It was Abramovich that's given the players the power over the last few years.

As above, AVB has made his mistakes too. It was reported that he was given the green light to clear out the likes of Lampard in the summer but chose to keep them on. It's the managers responsibility to get the best out of his players and for one reason or another AVB has failed dramatically to do that.

Jose Mourinho was in London this week. Any connection?
Well Spurs, Chelsea, FA and Man Utd's marketing department are all located in London. ;)

Believable but unbelievable at the same time.
Yep. You know it's coming, but you can't believe it when it does actually happen.

Abramovich is completely destroying Chelsea.
Pretty much all he's done since he bought them with his obsession for the Champions League glory he wants so much. He's like a lot of us would be if we were billionaire owners of football clubs; reckons he knows better than the coach and just signs whoever he wants.

Unless he actually gives someone several years to rebuild the squad, then Chelsea are going to be a declining force if they keep changing their manager as frequently as they have done.

it would be interesting to know how much Chelsea can spend in the summer with FFP in mind , with all the compensation packages paid recently

Feel for AVB he needed to be given time to develope a new team, but I've been saying for weeks its a question of time for the sacking more than IF it would happen

I'm not sure De Mateo will improve results enough, Chelsea will be lucky to even get Europa place the way they are playing

He’s a nice guy and I wish him well but I’m not sorry to see him go. He didn’t inherit a bad team at all and in in his time has shown very few positives going forward. In fact it’s been the opposite and the performances have just gotten worse as the season has progressed.

Sure the team are partly to blame and so is the Chelsea management but he is has shown himself to be just too inexperienced for the job. Whoever in the Chelsea hierarchy recommended him should be booted out for recommending him as manager. There are other advisors in his entourage that in Abramovich needs to sack at the same time.

I hope that finally we will take a long hard proper look at suitable candidates and not rush into the decision. Roberto di Matteo will certainly do what has to be done to finish off the season. Let’s face it we are still quite capable of qualifying for the Champions leagues and winning the cup. Anyone who thinks otherwise is rather foolish. After this episode I have no doubt that we will come back even stronger.
