people don't half talk some crap about AVB, seemed like a nice guy, wasn't given time, was forced to use the "old guard", then you've got Abramovich ruining Chelsea and , 8 managers since he took over, says it all .... what?
AVB did nothing expect persist with a system that didn't work , showed no sign of the team improving, played the little man with a complex and tried to throw his weight aroudn and in doing so lost the support of everyone at the club. Only person that is responsible for this is AVB.
Ashley cole might be getting older, he was still the best left back in the league till AVB arrived, Terry, might be a complete **** but he was WELL above the average CB in the league till AVB arrived..... rinse repeat for just about every player at the club.
As for people still saying he should have got rid of Lampard or, old players are useless, Lampard has been both their best player, and one of the best ACM's in the league all year and it was AVB who randomly dropped him, while in form, which more than once resulted in dropping points while playing a significantly worse player instead of Lampard.
On to Abramovich, ruined the club, before him, top 4 was a luxury, since Abramovich, champs league football, few league titles, bunch of other titles.... yeah, ruined, I'm sure every fan would take being 80mil in debt, in administration and potentially in Rangers/Pompie's situation rather than angry over losing 4th. As for too many managers saying it all... Arsenal 1 manager for how long, Chelsea several managers of which a bunch of them have won something, so really says nothing at all.
You've got Fergie winning something most years, Wenger not winning anything for ages and Chelsea, Real winning stuff every couple years with constantly changing managers, Barcelona sacked a manager who had won everything, for coming second, and ended up winning everything themselves straight away. Consistency and long term managers bring titles, lots of proof suggests that is utter BS.
AVB was not doing well, had no experience in a top league and mostly showed an entire lack of any real quality in his time at Chelsea, with a side of nutcase to go with it.
Firing great managers isn't a great move, hanging on to crap ones who haven't worked out is even worse.
