AVB leaves Chelsea (sacked)

I've already faxed my application through. :p

Oh and surely it's 9 managers in 9 years. Matteo isn't going to last long, he's got the job until the end of the season or in other words when they pay off the club currently employing who Roman wants next.

Fax? I setup a website detailing my achievements in FM and how he could buy any players, hell he could even pick the team as long as I get my severance package!

What I don't understand is they've got rid of him and put Di Matteo in charge till the end of the season, surely AVB has more chance of getting them into 4th than a guy who got sacked by West Brom?!

Would have thought they'd at least wait till they had a proper replacement in place until they gave him the chop.

I'd imagine because he used to be a Chelsea player, has been with the club for a little while and is somewhat just below the manager in terms of managing.

I think you're forgetting that the players seem to hate him, where as they might not hate Di Matteo. Obviously it affects them.

I think Di Matteo's a decent manager just not very bright. He tried playing open attacking football with Championship players in the Premiership and he nearly took West Brom down. Similar style of football with better players and I can see him doing well as long as he's not just a glorified boot boy for the old guard.

Abramovich is completely destroying Chelsea.

Pretty much. They had it in their hands to go on and dominate the premiership until Roman upset Mourinho. That then made it easy for Manu while they tinker about with managers.

Moyes has done a decent job at Everton and plenty of times he could have been sacked because of results but as much as I don't like his tactics that stability and consistency has kept us in the top flight. Then the next year we have a good season and he's hailed as some sort of god.

Of course we all know how easy it would have been for united to sack ferguson at periods of time due to results or dips. The difference is the united boards have let Ferguson control the players or boot them the **** out. At chelsea there seems to be a few players who are untouchable and carry more weight than they should.

Chelsea should atleast have let him clear out and have a go at rebuilding.

Mourinho would have to be favourite but I would not be surprised if it's moyes :D

;)

people don't half talk some crap about AVB, seemed like a nice guy, wasn't given time, was forced to use the "old guard", then you've got Abramovich ruining Chelsea and , 8 managers since he took over, says it all .... what?

AVB did nothing expect persist with a system that didn't work , showed no sign of the team improving, played the little man with a complex and tried to throw his weight aroudn and in doing so lost the support of everyone at the club. Only person that is responsible for this is AVB.

Ashley cole might be getting older, he was still the best left back in the league till AVB arrived, Terry, might be a complete **** but he was WELL above the average CB in the league till AVB arrived..... rinse repeat for just about every player at the club.

As for people still saying he should have got rid of Lampard or, old players are useless, Lampard has been both their best player, and one of the best ACM's in the league all year and it was AVB who randomly dropped him, while in form, which more than once resulted in dropping points while playing a significantly worse player instead of Lampard.

On to Abramovich, ruined the club, before him, top 4 was a luxury, since Abramovich, champs league football, few league titles, bunch of other titles.... yeah, ruined, I'm sure every fan would take being 80mil in debt, in administration and potentially in Rangers/Pompie's situation rather than angry over losing 4th. As for too many managers saying it all... Arsenal 1 manager for how long, Chelsea several managers of which a bunch of them have won something, so really says nothing at all.

You've got Fergie winning something most years, Wenger not winning anything for ages and Chelsea, Real winning stuff every couple years with constantly changing managers, Barcelona sacked a manager who had won everything, for coming second, and ended up winning everything themselves straight away. Consistency and long term managers bring titles, lots of proof suggests that is utter BS.

AVB was not doing well, had no experience in a top league and mostly showed an entire lack of any real quality in his time at Chelsea, with a side of nutcase to go with it.

Firing great managers isn't a great move, hanging on to crap ones who haven't worked out is even worse.

Terry wasn't 'well' above the average CB in the league. For years he was made to look better then he was.

Moyes plays ugly, negative football though, Abramovich wants silky sexy football. Looks like we're stuck with the ginger ****! :D

He randomly dropped him? To us it was random maybe but I am sure he has his reasons.
None of us know what goes on behind the scenes in full details but one thing that seems obvious and has for ages is the amount of power certain players have in that club and the decisons they seem to take.

If you as a manager are being undermined by your players, have them in contact with a previous manager and they give you no backing, no support and seem insistent on you being kicked out of the job because they don't like you I am sure you would do something about it.

Players have been an issue at that club for ages and some of their performances are not down to the manager, it is down to them. Not interested and couldn't give a monkies.
They want want they want and nothing else.
