Avengers: Infinity War (2018) - *** WARNING: SPOILERS ***

Perhaps the other stones powers combined would be able to counter that. We did see Thanos just shatter the mirror universe like it was nothing after Strange tried to trap him there.

He appeared to send some sort of wave towards the ship.
It’s my understanding that he got rid of all the civilians that were in danger - something that would have been impossible for Iron Man to do.

Remember, he had teased Dr Strange about being a children’s party magician.

But Fox have wasted their license (not including Deadpool) with really bad movies and even worse reboots

If it means getting actually decent X-Men and Fantastic 4 on the same level as Avengers then I'd be happy for some merging however weird it may be
I would be happy to see X-Men rebooted along with FF4 as a separate universe. Just not in the current MCU. Might be good to slow the current MCU down after Avengers 4 and then if the takeover happens get another alternative MCU with FF4 and X-Men in it?

What i meant was what he did in Doctor Strange to defeat Dormammu.

But maybe doing that wouldn't beat Thanos. It would win that fight, and later the outcome would be worse. There's obviously a way out to defeat Thanos, but we don't know if that brings everyone back. For instance, Loki and Vision are killed by Thanos, not turned to ashes by the Infinity Gauntlet. Maybe Strange's path to beating Thanos is a pyrrhic victory that drives Thanos off, but doesn't bring people back from being erased.

That's a fair point given Thanos said:
No ressurections this time

Also I would consider Loki and the Vision major characters.

Just back from watching - thoughts:

Even though Thanos is the Villain, for some strange reason I felt sorry for him, it was almost as if 'why do I have to do this, I'm going to lose more here than everyone else' attitude. He did sacrifice Gamorra & his black order to get the stones after all.
The Hulk refusing to 'appear' after his severe slapping by Thanos. A bit like a kid refusing to go to school for the first time.
When each time Thanos put a stone in the gauntlet it reminded me of this:
I couldn't help but think that the whole film with snippets of here & here was like an episode of Game of Thrones, with each snippet with the marvel character in it was a smaller version of their film.

Still good though - one for the disc collection when its released. Avatar had better be looking over its shoulder methinks.

Thanos is also "cursed with knowledge" so how would going back in time make any difference to the outcome?

He told Thor he should have aimed for his head after Thor stuck the axe in him. I can see that happening when the time travel maguffin gets invoked in part 2.

Just seen it.

I guess Thanos will come to realise his fix for saving the universe is flawed as the populations will always increase to fill the void so he'll have to keep on halving the populations every x length of time. So come to the conclusion that it wasn't worth the sacrifice he made.

So Thanos will engineer the one scenario where he can actually lose. :)
And that would be what Dr Strange saw so he gave the stone up knowing it was the only way to win. The order of Thanos receiving the stones must have had an effect on the outcomes.

Just got in from watching it. Thought a quiet monday night would let me absorb. Great spectacle, i was a bit bored if im honest. I get that its part 1 but still slightly boring. I am biased as I was a serious comic nerd growing up so there wasn't any 'surprises as such. I preferred winter soldier.

Also, finally nailed the coffin for me in going to the cinema, people seem to treat it like their front room. Most were talking throughout, l will watch 2nd at home.

Something that bugged me about this...

If Thanos had the power to do anything with the stones/Gauntlet and the whole point he was making was that the universe had a finite amount of resources and would run out of resources unless the population was kept in check then how come he didn't just use the Stones/Gauntlet to double/triple the universe resources instead and leave the population as it was.

Same net effect and nobody has to die.
