Avengers: Infinity War (2018) - *** WARNING: SPOILERS ***

It was mentioned on the Empire spoiler special podcast that one theory for A4 could be a bit of Back to the Future 2 style time travel to some of the previous movies.....could be interesting.

My take on that is that time travel movies can often be a bit of a kop out...."and I woke up and it was all a dream..." sort of stuff.

The key thing for me is for them to not make exactly the same movie again except with some new faces, returning faces and a different outcome. It doesn't take much imagination to figure out a rough ending based on the source material, who is contracted for more films and who isn't, but I'm just hoping the template will be different enough to make the journey interesting. Perhaps them deciding to not call them Part 1 & Part 2 is an indication of this.

I watched this tonight and loved it. But I kept wondering why they didn't just keep Thanos occupied while Scarlet Witch targeted the infinity stones on his glove.

Thanos already had 5 of the stones when he used the Space Stone portal to get to Earth.

By that point the Avengers were no threat. They wouldn't have kept Thanos busy long enough for Scarlet witch to smash one stone, let alone 5.

One minor thing that confused me both times I watched it was near the start.

When the Alien ship lands in New York, Dr. Strange casts a spell towards it and then winks at Tony - Before the Children of Thanos appear and walk towards them.

What did the spell actually do?

I'm thinking maybe it just to stop the wind/debris that was flying around?

Perhaps the spell on the eye of agamoto?

I took that to be a spell to stop the huge rush of wind created by the ship which was endangering people.

Why didn't Dr Strange keep looping the fight sequence with Thanos till they won? There are plenty of possibilities.

I really hope they
don't end Thanos and at times he'll come back as an ally against greater threats like he does in the comics. He is too much of an interesting and powerful character to treat as a simple villan

I just think Thanos will be the one to undo himself, trying to bring back Gamora with one of the stones. I also don't think it will be so obvious to just bring back everyone that died.

she can only destroy the mind stone because her powers came from it - she cannot affect the other stones.

Kinda sucks as Disney is on the cusp of owning Fox and thus the X-Men and Fantastic 4 license, providing comcast don't **** things up

But it's entirely possible that Avengers 4 is done in a way so they can merge both Avengers universe and X-Men universe together so that Wanda becomes the daughter of Magneto and we finally get to see Mutants and Fantastic 4 in the Avenger universe or rather we get the complete Marvel universe instead of 3 different (4 if you count Deadpool) universes

In all honesty I'd rather they be kept separate now. They've had no part in the universe Marvel have created over the past 10 years but have still had their own universe created by Fox. If they're going to join them together, reboot the whole lot in 10 years time. I would just find it rather jarring to suddenly have Wolverine, Iceman, professor X etc on the scene, no matter how they write it.

But Fox have wasted their license (not including Deadpool) with really bad movies and even worse reboots

If it means getting actually decent X-Men and Fantastic 4 on the same level as Avengers then I'd be happy for some merging however weird it may be

I have said in the past that I didn't want the Xmen introduced into the mcu as it would be too much, but I must admit it would have been awesome if, during the postcredit scene, instead of Captain Marvel's symbol it was an X... Now that would have been an awesome moment!
