So because our opinions don't match that of yours and the OP's we need to keep it to ourselves, even though we were asked for our opinions? And anything that does disagree in a polite way is also badmouthing someone? Thats a new one on me.

I'd retort with what that deserves, but as I'm bound by the same rules as everyone else I don't think I'll bother.

... You're joking right, polite disagreement?

Shambles suck ass. The only thing that sucks more is Pete.

Congratulations. You are now 1/5 scumbag!

Make that 3/5ths scumbag.
Also id burned everything you touched that night.

He looks very very unhealthy and what stops him from making good music is lack of a ******* brain.

I swear to god that Zippy, the puppet, could write better songs. Im not even talking about the dude behind Zippy. Im talking about the inanimate pice of cloth puppet.

Well I think he's a genius. I love most of his songs and his lyrics are mostly excellent.
He wrote the music for a generation and so what if he's taken drugs.

Oh bugger, I'm getting him mixed up with Pete Townshend - who the **** is Pete Doherty?
Absolutely no-one.

No-one, dmpoole, or do you want to correct that as "someone who has sold me records in one day than I will in my entire life"?

And what has pete dohertys drug habit got to do with his music. The posts about OP being a 1/5 skaghead because he went to a babyshambles gig. "Music" forum, not an insult forum.

Bad music, you mean the bad music that has a rather large fanbase? Every one of them fans must have bad taste in music.
There's no accounting for taste... The Spice Girls had a huge fanbase, of 14 year old girls. Does that make them talented musicians?

Some people don't like the libertines others do. No point in getting worked up about it. Music is a question of taste and your personal opinion and not something that that is going to be changed.
As for all the Pete bashing there are plenty of dedicated forums on the net for that.

converse uprise you appear to like the libertines and babyshambles I suppose you have found the albion arcs site where you can get all the demos and such? If not you should check it out.

Thats not very hard is it since I've never made any records and not look likely to do so.

I've listened to the Babyshambles album twice and the only track that does something for me is Pentonville. I honestly believe that the only people who are into this tripe are those who are into the myth/hype of Pete Doherty. If this band had come on the scene with another frontman then they would have died instantly. I went to see them on a sunday afternoon in Hanley last year and they were bloody awful.

I don't care about his drug habit because he'll either kill himself or grow out of it. What I care about is that the media can't stop talking about him. My mother knows his name and even my 70 year old father asked to hear some of his stuff because he must be the new John Lennon. Oh how my dad laughed.

It is true that everyone of my favourite artists have been skagheads in the past but Pete Doherty is not even in the sunday morning league.

Define talented. Because if they were good at what they did, and they obviously were because they are now millionaires, so yes they were.

It all comes down to the definition of talented.

Talented musicians no - talented at being lucky enough to be recognised as being sellable by suits and lucky enough at pulling Kate Moss so he could appear on Heat magazine - yes.

HaHa, do you read half the stuff you write? Why does the fact that they're millionaires make them talented? They were the first of a looooooooong line of girl bands that were cleverly marketed by people behind closed doors, who had a fair idea that millons of young girls and pop-music fans would buy their cds. How many of the Spice Girls do you see now? How far have their 'talents' got them? A few spin-off recordings, all of which were terrible failures. They could've picked any five good looking girls to fill the five places they pre-conceived, it certainly wasn't down to any sort of talent. I think only one of them could sing in tune, they were all taught to dance, so no they weren't talented as you so shrewdly observed; they were just lucky.

I personally think Doherty it a total loser, and can't see why people look up to a druggie + whatever else he is.

But, I do like the odd Libertines + Babyshamles tracks when they're on in a club, as I don't really care that much what I listen to when I've had a few drinks.

If he wasn't a druggie Babyshambles/Libertines wouldn't have been anywhere as successful as they are now. Massive amount of free publicity for them.

Decent pub band (The Libertines) in my opinion nothing more.

Jokester

Do you even read the stuff I write? As I said define talented.

A person or group of people having such ability: The company makes good use of its talent.

That is one definition of the word talented, and using it in this context i'd personally say that the spice girls were talented. They were good at what they do, which is create produced pop music for little girls. They had the ability to sing not so tasteful pop music, which appealed to millions, in my eyes thats talent put to good use.
