Bahrain Grand Prix 2012, Sakhir - Race 4/20

McLaren's starts havent exactly been bad by any means ( in fact I think JB nearly caught MS for 2nd during the start of the last race, I seem to recall they were nearly level at one point - and given JB had two other cars in front of him on the grid........, admittedly Rosberg started phenomenally from pole)

If Merc are not on the front row, I cant see anyone else apart from McLaren being there

button was nowhere near 2nd at the start of the race and he was already 1.3 seconds behind at the end of the first lap
at one point button was in drs range but then msc started to pull away

msc would have been infront of button on medium tyres without the error and i doubt button would have got past him tbh

I think Frank means the start of the race, in which case Button got level with the back of MSCs car but couldn't challenge for the position.

From the onboard view of Kobayashi you can see Msc getting a shocking start, reacting about half a second later than everyone else once the lights went out so amazed he managed to keep 2nd place.

I am expecting a Mclaren domination for Bahrain, interesting comments about Vettel though :)

Everyone bar the teams are using the race for their own money\political agenda.
But I hope they do race this weekend.

the same gap the whole time until the corner when schumacher starts pulling away

rosberg got away silly fast but everyone else got off the line about as quick as schumacher did

What was the time gap between Schumacher and whoever was in second just before the first round of pitstops?
schumacher was in second place
the lap before buttons stop schumacher had a 1.6second gap
obviously button had to do a full lap back around to the pits so the gap would have increased from 1.6 to around 2

schumachers times are on the left and buttons on the right btw
to me it looks like schumacher was trying to drive 1:44.200 laptimes and trying to save his tyres , his pitstop was probably a reaction to buttons as it didnt look like mscs tyres had started to go off

Nice selective editing Arkyboy

selective editing? your the one doing selective editing
i suggest everyone go watch the first 30 seconds of the start as button never even tries to make any move and that camera angle makes it look closer than they were as there was always atleast 1 car length between them

one of the fans captured that corner

look at the gap as they enter the corner , then look at the gap as they exit it

nice screenshot of the acordion effect in the middle of the corner though :P

level with the back of MSCs car but couldn't challenge for the position.

couldn't challenge for the position.

My point was that Frank was talking about the start of the race, not the end of the first lap. Fair enough 'close to the gearbox of MSC' would have been more accurate than 'level with the back of', however I was going by memory of something I saw several days ago and wasn't expecting to have to have my grammar and recollection minutely inspected.

Jesus Christ.

Right, so we are going to be racing in Bahrain.
I am assuming that it is going to be super hot.
So, given this, will Merc be competitive here?
Will McLaren have the best car here?

Whose going to win this one?
Predictions please.

McLaren win.
Other McLaren on the podium too.
Red Bull to be on the Podium.
Webber to beat Vettel.
Alonso to show speed but suffer massive tyre issues.
Massa to be embaressing.
Mercedes Pole.
Rosberg to beat Schumacher.
Both Williams in the Points.
Both Force India's not in the points.
Media to try and make a massive issue about a few petrol bombs.
Bernie to be blissfully unaware.
Magnums to be handed to presenters in the pitlane.

My predictions :D

wet race and buttons going to lap the whole field seeing as hes the wet weather master but at his final stop the team mess it up and button drops all the way behidn the hrts because they have hamiltons tyres out instead of jensons
hamiltons going to get a penalty for weaving and in frustration collide with massa.
webbers going to get a podium and vettel is going to manage 1 point in 10th place.
schumacher and nico are going to suffer from the wheel nuts not beeing fitted

alonso is going to win with kobayashi coming in second place with a 1 stop stratergy
