Baldur's Gate 3

Group of mates I'll be playing with at launch have already had someone delay playing as they're away for the weekend. The nerve of some people having afk responsibilities. :D

I'm relatively settled on Paladin for the first run as a Dragonborn although was a bit disappointed in the customisation for them. The overall look of them was good and the colours were great (espically the draconic bloodline sorcerer colours) but there was only a few model changes with horns etc.

Looking forward to this as I held off paying the early access build to get the complete experience first time round. Narrowed down my char to either a necromancer or sorcerer but have to resist picking the dark urge for my 1st play through as it might be a more streamlined story if I kill off everyone!

Dark Urge will be my second play though if I get that far. It sounds a great story addition but yes, probably not great for a first run imo. By the time I do it, I expect I'll find out the general vibe people have on which is a "better" story, resisting or giving in, although I expect giving in will win :D

Call me old fashioned but all these new races is a massive PITA, I can cope with Elves, Dwarves, Halflings and half elfs and at a push Half Orcs, but everything else needs to be persecuted into extinction. DnD has gone full blown star trek discovery :)

I think this talk about setting unrealistic standards in the industry is pretty funny. Profit must go up but god forbid quality does.
It's analogous to Hollywood. The mega-million $ blockbusters are rarely the good films. They're normally lowest-common-denominator stuff.

There still are good films, but they are sometimes lost in an ocean of garbage.

Meanwhile, profit is indeed the primary motivation for most studios. And people do love to pay to watch garbage...

Yeah, it just goers to show what studios are really terrified of - being held to high standards.

As always with the caveat that no-one is calling out the people doing the work, but the creeps in suits.

I found it a useful exercise - it highlighted which developers ( as if we didn't know already ) are lazy and only interested in making products/content on the cheap.

Hell, I'd go as far to say it's analogous to current governments :D

Good options for multi play.
although i wonder how the drop in drop out will work.
all good options for people to explore!
I believe that when your friend/s drop in, you simply pick which of your party they will control for that "session", I suspect he is probably right though, most people will play with a set group of friends at set times, much like a real table top D&D group does.
