Baldur's Gate 3

I'm finding extra bugs since the hotfix yesterday. I've been stuck in dialog and I'm seeing broken animations for dead bodies (they stay standing up or in a T pose). Also weird lag when using abilities/attacks.

May just be the reason why the initial offline installer for Patch #2 hasn't resurfaced.
This update from today is called "Patch2_Hotfix1" and could indicate that there actually was something wrong with Friday's Patch #2 offline installer, resulting in it being pulled.

Original Patch Notes anyway

We’ve got a new hotfix for you today, fixing several bugs, glitches, and multiplayer issues.

Minthara lovers, your ship has come in. This hotfix takes care of a bug that blocked access to some of Minthara’s lines of dialogue, including some hot takes from your companions about your decision to date the ruthless Oath of Vengeance Paladin.

If approval is high enough, your romance with Minthara will progress in Act 3. This unlocks several new dialogues allowing you to explore and deepen the relationship, and discover more details of Minthara's backstory. Alongside many lines of interactive dialogue, many more non-interactive voiced lines are available with Minthara as a romantic partner.

Minthara isn't the only one who has new things to say though. Other companions in the party will comment on the relationship and may even find themselves on Minthara's bad side (there is no good side; we've looked really hard for it) should they have their own romantic entanglements with you. And Minthara won't watch silently if you stray from her side, whether your dalliance is with another member of the party, or [redacted].

We also have a number of fixes for just PS5 players. We’ve fixed graphical issues on HDR TVs, an issue in which game audio on PS5 stopped working, and a crash that would occur when opening the onscreen keyboard.

Thank you for taking the time to send your reports to our support team, and for all the messages you’ve been sending us. Thank you for playing Baldur’s Gate 3!

HIGHLIGHTS
Fixed a bug that locked players out of many of Minthara’s lines of dialogue.

CRASHES AND BLOCKERS
Fixed sometimes not being able to talk to NPCs or party members because the game thought you were still in a dialogue.
Fixed a rare crash that would occur when faraway characters got close to the party.
Fixed a crash that would occur if a guard responding to a crime created a summon (e.g. an elemental), and you fled the combat or were incapacitated without killing the summon.

PS5
Fixed an issue causing the game's audio to stop working on PS5.
Fixed graphical issues on HDR TVs when the HDR black level calibration was set to 0.
Fixed a crash that would occur when opening the onscreen keyboard.

PERFORMANCE
Fixed a memory leak when creating and destroying many objects.

MULTIPLAYER
Improved performance when cycling through Character Sheet tabs in splitscreen.
Fixed splitscreen not working correctly when a client with splitscreen already enabled joins a multiplayer game.
Fixed dismissed avatars not showing up properly in Withers' Wardrobe if the host is at camp and is already looking inside the wardrobe.
Fixed characters sometimes disappearing on splitscreen when the client reconnects after disconnecting while listening in on a dialogue.
Clients rejoining a multiplayer game where there's a dismissed avatar in Withers' Wardrobe will now be able to pick that avatar up again rather than have to create a new avatar. (This bug would happen when the client left the session and another player selected that client's avatar in the middle of the dismiss-to-camp dialogue.)

FLOW AND GAMEPLAY
Trader NPCs will now retain their Approval Rating of avatars and companions even after they're dismissed to Withers' Wardrobe.
Fixed not dying and therefore not triggering the Game Over flow if you bring him to 0 HP outside of combat in .
Fixed not being able to talk to Minthara at camp if you dismissed her outside of camp.
Fixed Level Up not working as expected if you level up while the game is saving.
Fixed Hag's Bane not having an effect on

UI
Fixed text being cut off in the title of tutorial pop-ups.
Fixed button prompts getting cut off on the Multiplayer Settings screen on splitscreen.
Fixed some UIs not updating when saving, causing, for example, Shadowheart's inventory to appear empty when you recruit her on the beach.
Fixed the tadpole count in the Radial Menu on controller.

CONTROLLER
Fixed characters getting stuck when the Analog Stick Selection setting is set to Left Stick and you rotate the stick in circles as far as it can go.

ART
Added nipple covers to for when the nudity filter is enabled.

LEVEL DESIGN
Moved Withers' Wardrobe in the crèche camp to avoid clipping with Shadowheart's tent.

I think we're nearing the end of Act2 in my coop game and it's been great so far.

What is jarring though, is bouncing between Starfield and BG3. The difference in writing and animation quality is, immense. Watching people talk while having real mannerisms is so immersive.

Yeah, I completely skipped Starfield. Partly because it's not really open world (or universe), but also because of the lifeless and somewhat disturbing NPC characterisations!

My Starfield character is named Tav.

The difference in polish/quality on the quests between the two is of course night and day, with BG3 being far better, but Starfield is growing on me a little as well.

Completed it last night, thoroughly enjoyed every part and I hope there is more to come.
Loved the story, the dialogue, the characters (not Gale, he left me pretty quickly), the acting and the choices. Never felt railroaded at all.

Easily an award winner, can't see anything beating it unless it's fixed.

Now for an evil playthrough....

Spoilers on Last Light Inn:

Can you actually take the cleric alive? I tried using spells and punching her instead but I always ended up killing her. I've progressed anyway after killing her but was wondering how on earth you are supposed to capture her alive.

You can change your mode to knocking out instead of killing at the bottom on the passive menu I think.

Spells will often kill instead of knock out, so try attacking with a pure melee class that doesn't also add fire damage etc.

Ah ok I forgot about that. Something for another playthrough I guess :)

Is this a bug or just weird game design, act 2 spoilers

I got to the camp with the absolutes army, and I had a choice to turn back or go ahead, I chose go ahead and then I was instantly in jail with no cutscene or whatever

That sounds like it could be a bug because I don't remember that choice or it happening to me.

Thought as much, shame as Act1 bugs were mainly around combat which I could get around, Act2 bugs have stopped me completing quests and progressing some parts. Dread to think what 3 is like at this rate.

As has been mentioned make sure you save, and save in battles as well
I was at the point where I meet the three and the brain, made Gail blow himself up and then told that's not the ending :D I was wondering why I hadn't seen the city, good job I had a save just before entering

I have been trying to split between this and Starfield, I loved skyrim, fallout etc but just can't get into it, the story, character and locations are so much more detailed in this. I'll likely play when finished this ..... or maybe one more playthrough. By far my game of the year, maybe the last couple :D

think i depends on the spec of any other machine you have.
if you have desktop/laptop that can play it as well steam.
More mods on steam/windows i would expect as well in the future.

its verified steam deck compatable now so i think go that route.
its small portabel and as you say can be plugged in to external screen. i would expect a lot of mods to be fine for steam deck also. just be weary of any graphics mods you might insall if any appear.

PS5 your fixed locations, but also optimised for the hardware possiblt better than steam deck but i think thats minor.

so yer either route. i think if i was deciding, it would be based on mod support and if i was going to use it traveling / holiday ect.
but its a bit hefty at 112gb for one game, steam deck can have the Harddisk upgraded but at cost if you have the smaller version one.
