Baldur's Gate 3

Is there such a thing as full resting too much? I'm trying to clear out the goblin camp and need too replenish my spell slots again as they are gone after 2 short rests and battles. I've plenty supplies.

No, if you have the option take it. You get your spells and actions reset. This can be the difference in a big battle.

There are a few things that you can miss if you long rest but I believe your always told about it by at least one of the companions. But they're rare, so long resting is a good thing.

I missed out on a couple of quests by long resting, I think the quests mentioned about having to complete them quickly though.

well, made it to act 3. 70 hours in. Going to take a break for now and wait for a patch or so before finishing off. Got starfield and cyberpunk to play for now. Im just feeling a little burnt out on BG3 at the moment. Awesome game, this and dome keeper games of the year.

House of hope end fight was brutal for me, shadowheart died by getting blasted off a bridge and I had to do it most of the zone with no healer as there was no corpse to resurrect :(

You can use the scroll on ability on there character pics on the side even if you cannot see the body. Happened with me a few times getting blasted off into a chasm, but click on scroll on person's pic and can then resurrect them that way.

Speaking of the House of Hope fight, I loved that they got the boss to sing his own boss music for that fight. It felt almost Disney villain style, but it really fitted the character. For an optional boss fight it's great the level of detail they put into this game.

Finally finished my first run. A Human Warlock. Run was well into 200+ hours, because there was two moments that required a retread back which took near 40 hours each time it happened. The first time was an item I purchased was no longer there at 140 hours, because that item was bought and then that game crashed and thus I didn't have it without realising when I reloaded and the last save was prior to that items purchase. The second time I found out that I had handed in a particular quest that I didn't intend to, and thus the second 40 hours retread happened, happening at 140 hours again (or 180 hours in). Otherwise, at least 140-170 hours worth of play overall.

But thankfully, this backtracking lead to the latest Patch 2 that fixed up some of the endings and some other parts in Act 3. So I missed most of the funiness that some of the other earlier completion players ran into.

Overall, quite happy with the game. I did have some raised eyebrows moments in some areas, but overall was great.

Some minor spoilery stuff here to help players bypass a bug or one or two feature info (so should be good to read once you're into early Act 1 I would imagine):
1. You need to keep the ball that you are given. You can't substitute it for another at this time when you might want to use it again. You won't need any of the other balls that you can find. Just that original one.
2. The maximum stat that can be raised with permanent items and effects is 24. 20 max from build and level ups.
3. Scrolls are your friend.
4. Make a note of the difference requirements for producing the same effect; some sources of the same effect are Action based, some are Bonus Action based. This can have a major impact on the flow of combat during more advanced fights.
5. Some weapon effects are passive, this allows you to equip something you don't normally use and still have it benefit you whilst using other forms of combat; effect on ranged weapon working for melee or spell combat for example - Improved Critical (+1 to crit chance) on ranged, but you only melee. etc.
6. Don't be afraid to respec characters. It won't impact on the story, but it can make your life a lot easier during combat when you're not using an origin gimp build with poor stat point allocation.

Oh... One more thing. Semi-Spoilery, so again, tags... But for those who completed the game, or nearly have and explored the game...

Did you also find the Sun Soul manual that was conveniently entirely empty of words? - Implication: Sun Soul monks soon I wonder? Would certainly delay my Monk run for that.
:)

Total play time with Early Access, over 1000 hours now. :)

I'm fairly sure I did try that, just kept saying the corpse was too far away, maybe its to do with being in a no rest area?

I've been gifted this game on steam, was debating getting it on PS5 but will now give it a shot on steam deck (not expecting it to run too well tbh)

Looking forward to it, but worried it may be a bit too dense. We shall see!

Runs ok on the steam deck. Low settings, 30fps, and eats the battery. But very playable and very fun.

Saying that it's not terrible on the battery compared to other demanding games. But because its the kind of game where you look up and 4 hours have passed without you noticing, and the battery doesn't quite last 2. It feels like it's worse on the battery
