BARGAIN - OcUK 24" with DVI (*VA Panel) for £179.99+VAT (This Week Only Deal!!)

This is my screen, when on a black background this is what it looks like.

It seems bad to me, but is it or can it be RMAed ?

The screen is blacked out using the dead pixel buddy app

That is terrible. It is absolutely not supposed to look like that. Like the other guy said, use it for a few days and if it doesnt clear up, then RMA time. Keep the imageshack photo and send the link in, when you do the RMA webnote, so they know what the problem is.

whats this monitor like for gaming?

and assuming you could afford it would you always buy one of these over the following: Acer243W benQ G2400W and Dell E248WFP ? (with gaming in mind)

im not sure what one to get

My OcUK value monitor was DOA so it's being RMA'ed as we speak. I've gone for the BenQ G2400W (from elsewhere) as I was both annoyed with the monitor not working, with them sending out TN panels to everyone else and to the quality of the OcUK value one - it is *very* poorly made imo, benq one can be had elsewhere for about £20 more.

Thanks for the good bad news.

I was not sure if it was just me being over fussy (the monitor it runs dual out put with is a 20" dell Ultrasharpe screen) which is perfect.

But looks like it will be RMA'ed on Monday.

What with all these RMA guys getting TN panels, I guess OcUK had more than the previously stated 50 contaminated monitors...?

If I was OcUK, I'd try to reclaim some of the money lost on sales from the manufacturer they bought them from.

the chap asked us (after looking for the parcels) if it was shedualed for monday delivery, which it is, then he said there in locked cages, and he cant let us have them because the number of parcels wouldnt be right on the system... and that system is in place because too much stuff had gone missing.

chipshop was closed aswell :(

bit poop tbh. bet they cant find our house on monday too :\

Au Optronics no longer produce 24" MVA panels, but only TN panels.
Products like Benq FP241W have been discontinued because of this, and guess what, new BenQ G2400W is now TN.

Maybe Nits Technology (the original manufacturer of this DGM monitor) doesn’t have anymore MVA panels in stock, so they don't have the choice and use TN panels now.

The only alternative would be to use the 24" PVA panel from Samsung, but it maybe costs too much for them.

You should talk about this to DGM or Nits Technology and try to get an official response from them.

So the only hope is that Nits is producing two categories of monitors, with a way to differentiate them:
A grade with MVA (and now Samsung PVA to replace discontinued MVA)
B grade with TN

It's just pure speculation, maybe Nits just use panels randomly as soon as they arrive in their fabs.

I have only 1 problem with this monitor. When leaving a game perhaps Crysis which I run in 1600x1050 the monitor fails to switch back to 1920x1200 and displays out of range error until I switch it off and back on.

I'm using Vista 64, latest Dets and a 8800GTS. Anyone have any ideas?

i got one of these screens last week its brilliant and well worth the money
i have one stuck/dead pixel only on black it shows red but its at the side and only notice when look for it maybe it will fix itself?

great monitor and not cheaply built at all

Has anyone with a TN panel actually received a PVA as a replacement as yet ? As per my previous post, where "Adam" told me that a refund and reorder was necessary because otherwise the system would simply replace the RMA with another TN panel -- then he said that it looks like the category had now been fixed, and that the replacement would be a PVA.

Could explain why some people have been receiving a TN as a replacement - this may have been as a consequence of the above. Hopefully it's now fixed though and only PVAs will be sent out as replacements.
