BARGAIN - OcUK 24" with DVI (*VA Panel) for £179.99+VAT (This Week Only Deal!!)

Unless they're opening the monitors before they send them they can't guarantee it.

Well, Gibbo said they had managed to distinguish the contaminated (TN) models from the decent (VA) models. If what you say is true, then they must have had to open each one and inspect the panel/model code on the sticker in the back of it.

my first monitor was a tn panel with a glossy screen. received it on the 29th feb. rma'd that.

received replacement monitor on the 7th march. and guess what? tn panel again.

i asked for a replacement for my replacement via webnote but have been informed i now need to phone up to have it replaced.

this is my first time buying from ocuk and i am far from impressed.

ps. the tn panels are pretty good.

As posted here by kikifr you don't need to open the monitor to find out what panel is uses but for some reason a lot of people have ignored it.

In my case, that was wrong. The monitor reported itself as a V0 but the sticker on the back (through the vent) said V4. It also had poor viewing angles and did not perform anything like a VA panel. Pictures on the panel I had (proving it's a TN): http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=11221244&postcount=2513

Now compare those pictures to these: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=10552114&postcount=170

It's strange that the sticker and what was reported on the screen when I held down the menu & + buttons were both different. But for whatever reason that is, I still think actually opening the monitor, plugging it in and testing it is the only way to 100% determine what kind of panel it is...

Are you sure that your panel was not a M240UW04 V0? (TN panel)
It's different from M240UW01 V0 (MVA panel)

In this case the panel reported in the menu would be correct

Instead of OCuk replacing my TN panel again, could i instead get a "BenQ G2400W 24" Widescreen HDMI/HDCP LCD HD Monitor - Black" as the replacement and pay the additional amount?

Would that be possible?

And what panel does the BenQ use?

As yet, they have not provided you with the product that you paid for. Hence, you can get a full refund, including postage, if you want.

For the moment I'd get a refund and either save for a different 24" or wait until the problem is sorted. It sounds more trouble than it's worth right now.
