BARGAIN - OcUK 24" with DVI (*VA Panel) for £179.99+VAT (This Week Only Deal!!)

Hi Guys,

Adive sought if you have a second. I just got my replacement screen this morning (as the previous one has serious backlight bleed in the corners). The new one doesnt seem to have this, but when i came to watch a movie this night, i noticed the following effect on very dark screens. (sorry I don't have a camera to hand):-

backlightfm5.png

This is of course exaggerated. But basically there are light patches (almost symettrical) that are creating an optical illusion of a black oval in the centre. However these lighter patches are not in the corner (which is what i believed backlight bleed to be).

Any ideas what this is? And how / if I can get rid of it.

Thank you kindly.

LG Premium MVA. Hope it looks good. You can check panels at http://axofiber.no-ip.org/inside/monitor.lcd.panels.en.htm which is a handy site.

Just to clarify, that panel is NOT made by LG. It is made by AU Optronics. (Hence the AU) However, the same AU panel was used in the LG L245WP 24" monitor, as stated in the list.

It is indeed an MVA, and I believe is the panel that most of the early stock came with, including mine.

;)

Mine has this, but only very faintly

So, i have to admit - i have not read 102 pages of this thread, but the last 2 or 3. Is it safe to buy one of these screens yet or shall i go mad and buy the Dell 2408 one?

Well, Colin, it seems as though OCUK have sorted themselves out and are sending out the right panels now. I am jealous as I have 2 being collected today that are being swapped but I'm sure they will be fine when they return.

I think you will find most of the thread is about TN film monitors being sent out and returned so you can probably safely ignore it. People with the right monitors seem very happy with them so a safe bet I would say.

However, the screen has a fixed stand which allows tilt only. The Dell have a proper stand with up and down as well as tilt. What you chose depends on your needsMy son has the Dell 2407 which looks very nice and that is on sale at presernt and could save you money if you need the bettere stand. When I get my replacements I'll put up pictures of the Dell and one of these screens so people can see the difference.
