BARGAIN - OcUK 24" with DVI (*VA Panel) for £179.99+VAT (This Week Only Deal!!)

How can you tell what panel you have? mine isn't as white as I hoped, it's not much different than than my 3 1/2 year old 17" Viewsonic LCD.

I have this number on the back - pcm-lcd-2442wb88eukd.

Press the M and + buttons on the monitor at the same time to get the panel model number. I'd guess its the AUO panel as their white purity is not as good as the Samsung one.

Woo, got me one of these winging its way to me soon:D. Got a guaranteed VA model from MM, courtesy of fonzee.

Should be a decent step up from my Acer 19" widescreen.

I basically only play COD1 multiplayer, does anyone know if my X850XT will be able to cope at native resolution?

Colours are a whole lot better. Whites aren't Daz white but the colours are excellent IMO. Hook up both monitors when you get yours and see how much the VA panel makes a difference compared to the TN when looking from angles - quite astonishing. Then again it's the first VA monitor i've owned!!

Having trouble with the white balance here. White is clearly warmer (more red) in the lower 1/4 of the screen, then fades to a colder white at the top of the screen :-( Problems with the backlight perhaps? Problems persists at extreme viewing angles, so it's not that.

Panel type is AU-M240UW01-V2 one of the new MVA panels.

The problem is clearly visible when viewing a webpage with a white background, and on page 15 of the Eizo monitor test (it displays four white boxes in each corner).

Do I have to document this somehow before getting an RMA number?

Anyone else experienced this?

How to make sure the technician actually properly examines the display? I'd rather not pay for the shipping just to get the same monitor back... (I live in Denmark so shipping is not exactly cheap). I expect to get shipping payd if the problem is verified and I get a new monitor - Am I right in assuming this? I'd much appreciate a reply by Gibbo, if you are still around - you seem like a reasonable and helpful guy - in fact reading parts of this thread (despite the number of error reports - that's to be expected) convinced me to go ahead with the purchase in the first place - please don't let me down on customer support :-)

Thanks

aye i have the same problem although i have the AU-M240UW01-V0, i realized it happened with blacks and thought it was back light bleeding, but then i realized today it happened with whites too, i asked for a rma anyway yesterday(Saying about blacks acting strange and it also hums a bit on standby) and waiting to send them it on monday
http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17872198

thats a thread with pictures of what happens with my blacks, but same happens with whites

when you ring up they ask you what the problem is and no doubt theyd document it, but id send a note with the monitor saying exactly whats wrong, as it may not be totally obvious

I've just noticed that mine doesn't seem to go into "standby" properly....

Well maybe it does, but when there is no video source, you'd expect it to go into it yeah?

But I'm just getting a flashing blue light (instead of constant when its on)...

So basically I have to turn the damn thing off manually every night, not too convenient since its in me bedroom mounted to the wall at the end of me bed lol...

any ideas? taa :)

That flashing light indicates's the monitor is in standby, had it been a dull amber light there would be no problem, but that bloody blue light is so bright:eek:

Thats one thing that really got me, my old Viewsonic 17 inch screen was a TN (I think). Going far out the center view of it and it just looked black! But with these you get a great clear image!

Only problem is the shoddy stand and bright blue light! (who thought that was a good idea?!)

The light would probably shine through the marker. A small piece of black gaffer tape works fine and would look a bit better than blu-tak.

Dont understand everyones beef with the light, have had 4 of these monitors now so not like i just got lucky with my light. Its really not blinding is it, i dont even notice it when using pc, dunno why everyone is having such a hard time lol

Yewp. And i can still just about tell if the computer is in sleep.

I've been using this monitor for a little while now (Yuraku), and i'm happy to report everything is spot on. With calibration it's also proven most worthy for my photo tasks.

When I wear glasses at the computer I get a nice big blue sheen running up the middle of my field of vision :p
