This is my first post on this forum, hi all.

I’ve had this 24” DGM L2442WD monitor now for over 5 weeks and I’m very pleased with it. I’ve read almost all of this huge thread, looks like every one are getting different panels looking at all the different code numbers. People are getting a mix of MVA, A-MVA, PVA, TN Film all with there own different strengths and weaknesses. Some bright, some dull.

My panel lottery gave me a SA-LTM240M2-L01 panel which I believe is a S-PVA Samsung one. It’s very bright, a lot brighter then my old 19” Acer LCD. Whites are white. No dead pixels, which is amazing the fact there are over 2.3 million of them :p. As some one posted it could have done with a night time setting because in a low light room it can be over bright.
As with everyone here, I taped over the flashing blue LED with a small bit of tape :D .

I think the response rate could have been better on this panel as I do see blurring in games. In fact I can see blurring just moving a web page or window across the screen and you then can then not read the text within it. A more scientific test I did was to use a utility called ‘Pixel Persistence Analyser’, only test I did was the readability test F4. You have to type the words that are scrolling across the screen, the more you get correct the faster the text goes until at one point you can no longer read it. My best score was 8 (higher is better, lower is worst).

I also did some Input lag tests. I see that ‘Gregeff’ had some very good lag test results on his panel, almost no lag, wow. I wish I could say the same about this one. I did 12 photos with my camera phone of my screen next to an old CRT monitor and then did an average of the difference of ‘ms’ between them both. The result a poor of score of 52ms. (ms=1/1000 of a second).
I kind of knew this panel had a lag problem even before doing the tests as I get a small amount of mouse lag. It’s very small but you can feel it ever so slightly when moving the mouse. What you see on screen is what the computer sent 4 frames ago. Which is a bit of a shame as I’m a games player. But for £200 pounds I don’t mind too much. I would have minded if I had bought the £400 24" Dell monitor which has this same problem, same panel in fact. You do get usage to it. Small bad point on a very nice monitor in which I’m very very happy with :).

S-PVA panels are always laggy. It's a shame, but having seen the S-PVA and A-MVA panels side-by-side I'd say that unless you're a twitch gamer A-MVA's lack of lag doesn't compensate for its poorer image quality. Not that A-MVA is bad, but the Samsung panel's pure whites and nice rich colours are a notch above it.

Could any of the recent buyers either confirm or refute about the brightness issue?

So the question is can you comfortably work for prolonged period behind this screen (under normal lighting; evenings)? If someone has access to a colorimeter and can measure the actual brightness (cd/m2) that'd be great!

And can someone also check out that there is no backlight control?
Press Menu & + and access the ISP menu; you will see a Backlight slider -> check if it has any influence on brightness.

And feed the monitor a fullscreen black image. And then go in the regular OSD menu and adjust your brightness to 40 and keep going lower -> does black become blacker or do you see no influence once the slider drops below 30-40?

i've found that mine has no backlight control. it only darkens the pixels.

the backlight option in ISP mode has NO effect from 0 --> 255

the little red menu says:
AU-M240UW01-V0

what panel does that mean i have?

Thanks for confirming this, Aod!

You have an AU Optronics V0 P-MVA panel.
This is very interesting because a lot of recent buyers have gotten an AUO V0 panel whereas latest production batches would more likely to be the Samsung L01 or AUO V3 (but actually V2) panels inside.

With an AUO V0 panel, you have a very BIG chance that the PSU board inside is easily moddable with the bypass cable in order to restore backlight control.

Might be asking too much from you, but the only way to confirm this would be to open up your screen. We'd only need a confirmation so it would be easier to track down that monitors with V0 panels are they ones to aim for as OCuk or a retailer could simply check this via the OSD instead of opening the monitor up.

To open the monitor, undo the two screws behind and then use a soft plastic (telephone card) to open up the bezels and that's it!
If you require a pictorial instruction, I can post it here with pictures of the desired PSU board!

Hi all,

Ordered Wednesday, received the monitor on Thursday: it's an AU-M240UW01-V0 .

Just as I was relaxing thinking I won't need to send it back, I noticed a couple of stuck/dead pixels near the top / centre of the screen, which you can see here: http://liyang.hu/crap/deadpixels.jpeg -- is this usual? Is it covered under warranty?

I sent OCUK a webnote about this yesterday morning; yet to get a reply... was under the impression they'd be quicker than this. D:

Help?

Back Again,

I had a lone green lazy sob, Tapped it carefully with a felt tip pen (not a perm marker !!!)

Sorted it after several light taps

Those if i'm not mistaken are all green, I've found these to easiest to get back fully functioning

Ciao

Will do, I'm going to contact OCUK first as my dealings in the past with DGM directly left a lot to be desired to be honest, but with an identical fault to my first screen within a couple of months is frustrating

What did they say? I've got the exact same problem as you, and I bought mine in feb.

I just got this screen AU-M240UW01-V2 which I take is a good screen, quite a lot of backlight though.
Seeing as it is a very long thread can someone repost the best settings for it.
Thank you

Hiya,

I hold the menu and + key then use + or - to highlight isp then hit menu to enter the isp (the menu button acts as the "use" key)

Hope that makes sense

OK they don't look white, So i would call them "lazy" pixels

If they are you can get them back working ;)

I've never read a satisfactory explanation of how “Stuck pixels can often be re-energized by rapidly turning them on and off.” I mean, ‘re-energised’? What does that even mean?

Got an RMA from OcUK; I'd rather not tap on the screen and risk damaging it. Think I'll just have to send it back. D:

Cheers,

The menu buttons are horrid. I have to use a torch in the evening if I want to mess with this monitor's menu because not only are the buttons totally inline with the monitor casing (they don't stick out at all and you cannot discern one from another by touch very easily), but they also have no text on them. I feel like a blind man when I'm trying to use the OSD!

I thought the ones on my old monitor were bad (similar indented text), but at least they were tactile and you could tell when your finger moved from one button to the next :)

Anyone else find it funny that this monitor comes with a ridiculously bright blue LED shining in your face and a huge DGM logo, but they don't put any noticeable markings on the buttons (probably because it would 'look bad')?

Urgh! Designers, get your finger out.

Anyway I'm nitpicking because hopefully I'll never need to access the sodding menu again. Just a pet peeve.
