UPDATE on the BACKLIGHT MOD + request for V0-panel owners to confirm:
copied over from http://forum.hardware.fr/hfr/HardwarePeripheriques/Ecrans/unique-iolair-clones-sujet_40947_105.htm

The main problem comes from the built-in power supply unit (PSU): We had noticed two kind of PSU at this moment.

One is what we called V1 version (no related with V0 or V3 LCD display), electronic modification seems to work using an adjustable resistor and a capacitor:
http://keskustelu.plaza.fi/Muropak [...] 1702042804

The other is what we called V2 version, electronic modification is harder as it requires the use of Soldering iron to remove a resistance from the PCB:

At this moment, Adoyforum (one electronician in this forum) tried to evaluate a non-intrusive method to know if you've got a V1 or V2 PSU.

We do not know if this method is relevant for all cases, but it seems to give results:

1) Put your screen in stand-by mode (turn off your computer or just turn on your screen without turning on your computer) with its Flashing LED.

2) Remove the electric plug from the outlet or better, use a multiple outlet

with an on/off switch, turn off this switch.

3) If your LED is flashing more than 7 times... you have big chance to own a V1 PSU, if less (4 times), it might be a V2 PSU (soldering iron... ).

We do not know if this method is totally correct but it does seem...

Okay, so the most interesting bit here is: could a couple of v0 panel owners indeed confirm the blinking LED so we know that the easy mod PSU board is installed...?:)

Thanks p4radox!
The v0 panels were pretty much more or and less expected to be matched with the V1 easy mod PSUs so I guess you couldn't be wrong off getting a v0 one.

Now will have to see how great OCuk service will go to get me a real v0 panel especially since I'm ordering from abroad. Would hate to have to return it (besides having to pay for return shipping international, too)

with respect, this backlight issue was pretty much non existant before you started mentioning it. i have no problem with mine and neither do 1000's of other people.

if you are going to compare ANY LCD to a Kuro its going to come out worse off. your DGM costs how much compared to a kuro? lol. have you calibrated the display yet?

James how to calibrate this screen then can you give me some good settings please.

Just ordered mine! looks like its gonna be in the deal of the week, as the price was reduced :D good thing lloyds did an anti fraud thing on my card so i had to wait for it to be cleared before re ordering :D

Oh man:(

Anyone know if they would they refund me the difference as I ordered yesterday?

Just arranged for mine to be replaced via Digimate as my 2nd screen got permanent line running full width of screen, collection tomorrow should have replacement within 7 working days, hopefully a replacement too and not this repaired
Will be interesting to see what I get back, this one is the better panel, ie not TN
Fingers crossed

I have a strange problem with this Monitor (my second one, the first wouldn't even turn on)

When I initially played a game 1650 res the display was very dark and lagging like hell, I mean really really bad.

So I went into the settings and noticed there was frequencies of 59 and 60, changed it 59 and all was ok. But today I went to play a game in 1650 res again and had the same problem, changed the frequency back to 60 and that fixed it. Until I turn the monitor off.

Turns out I need to switch the res fro 60 to 59 or visa-versa ever time I turn the monitor on and need to display 1650 res. Anyone else had this problem, is it a driver issue or (another) faulty monitor. I've had it for a few weeks now, hope the shop takes it back if it is faulty and I don't have to go the manufacturer.

Im gonna pop in and get another one in the morning, hope its as good as the two ive got previously. :D i'l be knocking on the shop doors at 0830.

Lol,

Don't do it !!

I'm about to call in for another 2 he he

One for a ddr3 rig i'm gonna be doing and one for an older rig to teach "Her" on lol

Had me a vision yrs ago of making a cockpit layout for my flight sims

These prices i think i can finally do something along this line :)

Ciao

I just got this monitor yesterday and seeing as I only have a 8800GTS 320MB the first game I tried was Race Driver: GRID at 1650 res, and it ran nice.

I had no problems running at 1650, I did not need to switch the frequency or anything.

That must mean that there is a problem with your monitor FooAtari.

Can anyone else to back this up?

So I've just ordered one of these. Unbelievably this'll be my first LCD monitor (currently using a 4:3 21" CRT). I'm looking forward to actually having desk space :D

Don't see a problem myself

I've got the card with 640 and i can play on 1920x1200 but stutters lol
