BARGAIN - OcUK 24" with DVI (*VA Panel) for £179.99+VAT (This Week Only Deal!!)

First post, so Hi all and sorry it's not the happiest one at that.

I've had the DGM monitor for nearly 5 months and up to 3 weeks ago i was very happy with it. Unfortunetly it had a line of Pixels go dead on it so rang OCuk they told me to ring Digimate and send it to them. They picked it up next day told me id have it back in 7 working days. Well 7 working days came and went and hadn't heard anything so i rang them and they told me that the screen needed to be replaced but they have no screens at the moment. They said they would send me a new monitor.....but they dont have any new monitors either. They couldn't give me any ETA when i might have a monitor back. So 3 weeks on and i ring again and still the same story....No screens, No new monitors, No ETA???
I've had no luck getting anything resolved with Digimate or OCuk just told i have to wait......just wished i knew how long?

Do Digitmate have a UK office?
I'm wondering if you could threaten them with legal action as they are quite literally taking the pi$$. At this rate, they could continue the excuse of not having any replacements for the next few years.

Alternatively, you could contact OCUK and tell them to have a word with Digimate OR ask OCUK to give a refund. I think legally, you can expect an item to work for at least a year (especially as there is a warranty on the item) and if the retailer or manufacturer cant give you a replacement in reasonable time, then they should give a full refund.

The problem is that by going to DGM on your own, it might be difficult to involve OCUK. If you had involved OCUK from the start and done the RMA via them, then taking action against OCUK would be a lot easier.

At this point OCUK could well turn around and say, "well, we would like to give you a refund, however, we dont have your monitor", which would be totally fair.

Anyway, keep us updated.

Just got off the phone to them. 5th of May I RMA'd mine. They are saying they are looking at alternatives, and should have a solution the begining of next week and to phone back if I have not heard anything by wednesday. Sounds like a fob off to me.

The annoying thing is clearly OCuk have stock as do many other retailers, so why can't the manufacturer get any!!!!!

As for above, OCuk were initially involved, I was told to phone DGM as many others have.

My next worry is what the solution is. I have a sinking feeling the screen I get back won't have a VA panel and is going to make the whole situation a lot more complicated.

Same here, I phoned OCuk straight away when the monitor went wrong and explained the problem which they insisted i contacted Digimate. I even said to them a number of times i wasn't happy about going direct to Digimate but they told me thats how they deal with DGM monitors. So i did exactly what OCuk wanted me to do, now myself and others are in this unending situation.

But surely, for the first year, your guarantee is with the retailer, not the manufacturer?

If you bought a product from a high street store and it then stopped working after 3 months. If you took it back for a replacement would they say, "No sorry. Go on the internet, find out the phone number for the manufacturer and phone them up to enquire about a RMA. We wont have anything to do with this."

The retailer can recommend that you RMA with the manufacturer direct, but if you insist, then by law, they have to deal with it themselves. I'm pretty sure this is correct.

You're Totally correct Sunama, however as a loyal customer for years with OCuk and never having a problem i had a lot of trust with OCuk, so when they tell you to do something a certain way i did what they wanted.
However Hindsight is a wonderful thing and if i had known what i know now then, obviously i would have made sure it went back to OCuk not Digimate :(

Nice piece of kit...

Ordered yesterday at 15:30 hrs, arrived today at 15:00 hrs.
No dead pixels. V2 version.
Blue light a PITA, stand is OK (got a good, solid desk).
Verdict? Cannot believe the value for money (£222 'all in') and OC service cannot be faulted.
Happy Bear...:D
Cheers,
Michael

Let me get it straight - because my screen is still within first year from the date of purchase I should send it back to OcUK? Can anyone from the very shop clarify this issue please? Those stories about Digimate not sending the replacements are scary:)

Thanks!

I'm not sure if anyone from OCUK will answer your question on this forum. If you really want to know, send them a webnote.

Furthermore you can google the legalities of it all. I believe that the warranty is with the retailer, by law, for the first 12 months unless explicitly stated.

This is the reason why, if you return a faulty product to a high street store, that said store wont tell you to return the item to the manufacturer but will deal with the problem on its own.

Once your item has been returned, the retailer can either deal with the manufacturer and get replacement (and sell the item as a b-grade item, or similar) or throw the item in the bin.

The key to all this is that OCUK dont seem to be saying, "No sorry, dont send the item to us, send it to DGM". What they are advising people to do is to send it direct to DGM for a faster service. There is a difference.

My monitor has just died on me. Since about a week ago on and off the display started a 'rolling' effect flickering black upwards and down the screen with just the top part of the screen visible but flickering/stuttering. It appeared to do it more so when it had warmed up, now it does it instantly to the point I get no display or a fuzzy display at best.

Tried the VGA and had the same fault. In further testing I found it not to be the PC at fault because with nothing connected the "no signal" box has the same flickering black rolling effect.

If I take this to Overclocker's myself will they replace the monitor whilst I'm there?

You can phone them up and ask them.

My guess is that they will tell you to leave it with them for testing, in the first instance. Once they confirm that it is defective, they will tell you that they are going to send the monitor to DGM for repair. Once, the repaired/replacement arrives at OCUK, from DGM, they will then forward you the monitor. This is how it usually works.

Of course nothing is set in stone and if you are a charmer, then you might be able to get them to replace it with a brand new monitor, on the spot.

Good luck.

Been working away today, not had chance to ring Digimate, ringing them at 9am tomorrow but after reading other posts Im not holding much hope, I was reluctant to deal with them direct but thats what OCUK said I should do

Thanks for all the previous input...

I should like to thank everyone who has contributed to this thread.
Because of you guys, my lurking has paid off in that I received the monitor 'as advertised', with no problems and furthermore I have managed to register it easily on the Digimate site.
All due to you guys who kept plugging away to get the improvements made.
Thank you all...:D
Cheers,
Michael

Hiya,

I would call OcUK

I'm sure i did put in a post some pages back explaining my first purchase was fubar when i tried it, I got a straight swap with no hastle

Not many weeks before that i had a fair amount of ram that was also fubar, That time they kindly did a like-for-like swap which again was hastle free

All the years and money i've spent on computers and had no problems as such then two faulty purchases crop up within weeks of each other, Bit of bad luck but that's how it goes sometimes i guess

Hang in there

Ciao

phoned ocuk and asked for a refund, they told me they couldnt do it over the phone, and to submit an online ticket webnotey thing, so did that but still waiting on a reply :( this is gonna take a while to get sorted me thinks :/
