BARGAIN - OcUK 24" with DVI (*VA Panel) for £179.99+VAT (This Week Only Deal!!)

Crysis is only one game, and it sucks anyway! :D

But a 4870 will do you good, I plan to spend around £200 on a card in November, my 8800GT does me OK at 1920x1200 at the moment though.

I think my B-grade is awesome, have stuff to do but just keep getting tempted back to it.

One thing for sure.... the 2900 ain't going to cut Cysis... good job I have a 360 to keep me amused ... though I have been looking at new cards...

I'm looking forward to my new toy :D My 20" SM206BW will be dwarfed along side it, will probably replace both my 20" monitors and use this one alone.

True, can't decide between 4870 or a pair of 8800GT's

The 8800's use about the same power at both idle and full load and I seem to remember they do equal or a little better than a GTX 280 in most benchmarks... as well as costing £150 pair ... could be a decent short term option while they are on offer.

Can't find the article now... typical ....

Hmmm

Nice screen though !:D

I'd personally go for the single card solution, less hassle and SLI doesn't work so well in every game right?

4870 would probably give better overall performance, I swear some people spotted B-Grade £170 odd 280GTX's a few days back. :D

Not personally encountered a game which didn't support SLI yet..

I did have a couple of 7900GT's for a while until my 2900.

Found the review on anandtech: The Radeon HD 4850 & 4870: AMD Wins at $199 and $299 for anyone interested....

No link since not sure if the adverts class as competitive links

Anyhow.... this is a little OT so I'll go play in the video card forum ;)

order shipped.....:) i dont really care if its a tn panel im just hopeing for no dead/lazy pixels.

one things for certain....im gonna have to upgrade my 8800gts320...:)....because it might start to seriously struggle at 1900x1200

I didn't mean that, not every game scales perfectly with SLI, no?

I mean, a single card is always going to give you the best performance, I don't remember SLI giving the same amount of a boost in every game you play, only certain titles scale extremely well, others not so much.

Have a look for the Anandtech article:

The 8800GT SLI and 9800 GX2 are quicker than than GTX280 and 4870 by a margin in most of the tests. When the aren't they only loose by a couple of frames.

Tested: Crysis, COD 4, ET QW, Assassins Creed, The Witcher, Bioshock, Oblivion.

If I had an Intel board I'd consider a pair of 4850's but I'm Nvidia so 8800's look the best bang for my buck and should go well with my £135 bargain...

I don't rate the GTX260, 280 as yet. It's a fast card with potential but needs a die shrink.... I'm sure NV are working on it....

Just picked one up from the shop as a B grade with a little bit of caution with all the posts on here about these monitors....in fact I nearly failed at the final hurdle and brought the 24" Dell but they could find no new firm ware revisions in stock when I went in (although they are expecting more this week)....and guess what...

Oh my god do I love this monitor,

I must admit my previous monitor was one of the first affordable 17" flat screens to be released about 7 years ago (approx £400) so no doubt any recent upgrade would be significant but this baby is awsome, no dead pixels, nice defined colours, no ghosting that I can spot, I do not know about input lag as I am not that fast a gamer any how but I am failing to spot anything that would be classed as slow response,

I am so damn chuffed with this it is unbelievable, maybe I am just easily pleased but so so so happy especially for £135.11.......and the best part is............. it is a PVA
