BARGAIN - OcUK 24" with DVI (*VA Panel) for £179.99+VAT (This Week Only Deal!!)

I didn't mean that, not every game scales perfectly with SLI, no?

Sorry your post was pretty vauge.

I mean, a single card is always going to give you the best performance, I don't remember SLI giving the same amount of a boost in every game you play, only certain titles scale extremely well, others not so much.

Yes but if he can get a pair of cards which perform better than a single card which costs more and has the hardware to facilitate SLI it is a good buy.

Just picked one up from the shop as a B grade with a little bit of caution with all the posts on here about these monitors....in fact I nearly failed at the final hurdle and brought the 24" Dell but they could find no new firm ware revisions in stock when I went in (although they are expecting more this week)....and guess what...

Oh my god do I love this monitor,

I must admit my previous monitor was one of the first affordable 17" flat screens to be released about 7 years ago (approx £400) so no doubt any recent upgrade would be significant but this baby is awsome, no dead pixels, nice defined colours, no ghosting that I can spot, I do not know about input lag as I am not that fast a gamer any how but I am failing to spot anything that would be classed as slow response,

I am so damn chuffed with this it is unbelievable, maybe I am just easily pleased but so so so happy especially for £135.11.......and the best part is............. it is a PVA

Yep great buy. 24" with a VA panel for £135 is just a steal.

I had actually saved £450 for a new monitor but now I have only spent this amount I might just use the rest to further upgrade my new rig......let me think.....

Another 4870 and run it in cross fire

or

additional hard drives and run it in raid

or

???? I just don't know the posibilities are endless.

god bless overclockers they have done me proud again (still waiting for grid though :))

And Stoke won at home too

And I am off work monday and tuesday

....what a weekend this is turning into

Well if u don't have a 5.1 setup buy one will make your games and movies sound the best.

Got a Xonar? Grab a DX if not, superb sound cards if you have the money spare.

Also some good headphones with the Xonar are nice for gaming, Dolby Headphone on the Xonar cards is excellent!

How about a new mouse?

order shipped.....:) i dont really care if its a tn panel im just hopeing for no dead/lazy pixels.

one things for certain....im gonna have to upgrade my 8800gts320...:)....because it might start to seriously struggle at 1900x1200

Ditto.... New card next I think. Tempted by the 4850 as I've found an Xpertvision for £102 inc vat. (DDR3 puts me off tho but £70 difference between this and a 4870? No contest in my book.... :p )

Ordered my *B* Grade 24" online friday but missed the next day delivery cut off time by half hour. OcUK have refunded the difference is postal cost thankfully (also 13 posts short of free delivery!!) Gutted I didn't have a new toy to play with over the weekend :(

Same just happened to me tonight :(

Had the monitor since March, I've been absolutely thrilled with it, so it's a bit of a let down that it's broke so soon.

Odd that the dead line seems to be around the same position for both of us.

Guess I'll need to get in touch with OC.

Have you got yours exchanged yet? Still to send mine.

ive thought about the 4870 more then the 4850 to be honest but personally i do feel that for the longlevity of the system the 512mb of mem will proberbly let it down in the future. i made the mistake last time of settling for the 8800 gts 320mb instead of the 640mb and theres no doubt about it i wish i had of gone for the bigger memory size, so i dont want to make that mistake again.

of course the nvidia options (gtx260/gtx280) both have plenty of memory for the foreseable future, and the 260 is alittle cheaper than the 4870 whereas the 280 is a fair bit dearer. now of course depends who you read and listen to as to which card is faster, but my take on the situation is that the 260 is very slightly behind the 4870 maybe 5-10% whereas the 280 is 20-25% faster in most things.

anyway i think ill wait to see how the 8800gts320 copes till i make any descisions.....anyway you never know nvidia might even make a good anouncement at nvision today/tommorrow which will have us all waiting with baited breath.... :D

I've just borrowed my bosses Asus 22" monitor to see how it fits on my desk and how Grid runs. Very sluggish at its native res, had to turn down all the settings to med then it ran pretty smoothly. Didn't like the heavy smoke effects at all. Definatley time for a new card I think so I can play at 1920x1200 instead of 1440x900..... :( . The Asus 22" looks really good on my desk tho. Now I can't wait for the 24"!! I'll post the before and after pics of my desk with my current 19" and the *B* grade monitor when I get it.

Got my B Grade OcUK 24" Monitor today and I'm wondering if I have a TN or VA panel. Can anyone help me out?

On the bottom of the box it says "A1711MB24DG01 V1.1" and the serial numbers on the box and the back of the monitor match.

I've seen this quoted:

M240UW01 (V0/V4) = MVA panel
M240UW04 (v0/v1) = TN panel

But mine is a V1.1, does that mean it's still a MVA panel?

just got my b grade delivered to work! Will test tonight. Im also wondering how I check what panel I have?

I paid only £121 delivered with free del & 10% voucher! :)

Press the the 'Menu' and '+' buttons at the same time and a red & white box will appear with panel code.

Then check here

Thanks! Saved me hunting through a 150 page thread!

Mines AU-M240UW01-V0 so I guess that means Prem.MVA made by AUO! Which is great news.

On a slightly more annoying note, it appears I have one of the buzzing models, when it is turned off (ie no Blue LED lit) but still has power going to it you can hear buzzing from the right hand side.

I notice a few people in this thread have mentioned this, how have your screens held up?

True, but it's going to be a real pain, especially when all my kit is plugged in to a surge protector with no individual switches, which means yanking it out of the socket every day.

I'm also a little concerned that the buzzing is a sign that something isn't right with the power supply in the monitor.

Maybe someone needs a new Ferrari? ;)

Serious answer - they realized it would still sell at that price.

It could also be partly down to rising costs, especially with what's currently going on around the world at the moment.

Well maybe, but I don't see 50% price rises across the whole monitor range. I think OcUK just realized it's the cheapest guaranteed-non-TN 24" and that they could sell it for a lot more and enough people would still buy it. Or maybe stock is low.
