BARGAIN - OcUK 24" with DVI (*VA Panel) for £179.99+VAT (This Week Only Deal!!)

Its the in-built speakers, adjust volume to 0 & problem solved :)

I wasn't aware it had speakers! Never used them then, however the previous panel I had didn't make this noise at all. Besides, it definitely coming from the socket area.

It's arranged to get picked up already anyway, but the noise sounds too 'electrical' like to be speakers (electrical arcing is what I'm told the correct term is)

Dont expect a replacement though, I was just informed by OCUK that they dont stock this panel any longer.

Hence Ill be keeping mine :D

You can always go through DGM. They should be able to replace the monitor with stocks they have or repair the power supply. DGM currently have one of mine.

Yes I've also been told the same thing, it appears DGM are no longer making the VA version of this panel. OcUK are trying to secure either very cheap TN versions or get DGM to reconsider.

It's in the menu. Press the M button to cycle through to Misc, press the + key, then cycle through till you find the Volume option.

Finally make up my mind to buy one of these and bam, it's gone! Only other 24"+ screen I know of with very low input lag (it's for competitive gaming) is the 245B+, can't believe I'm considering a TN panel, I know I'll hate it.

Has anyone worked out why sometimes just after logging on or coming out of sleep the panel will switch off (but the monitor still be on), and it will either ressurect itself if you move the mouse quickly or you have to physically unplug it (power button doesnt respond) to boot it back up again?

It only seems to do it when it feels like it, really hard to put a finger on the culprit, though i did read something about problems with Vista and DVI.

Proberly a good idea everyone keeps hold of there VA panels forever :)

No one will have the chance again it looks.... seeing comments from other £200ish places they are getting TN instead or screens with poor viewing angles....

Looks like this is the end of VA and TN finaly took over ! But will see

I just hope I don't get any faults with my VA panel then (touches wood).:p

Is there any way to get this monitor to display the correct aspect ratio for 320x240?

Playing some old ass games :)
I want to stretch them to fullscreen but maintain ratio. At the moment all I can get is a full screen stretched image.

Got an 8800GTX with 178.13 drivers.

When I try selecting "Use Nvidia scaling" or "Use Nvidia scaling with fixed-aspext ratio" it reverts back to "Use my displays built in scaling" after applying it.

320x240? Man those ARE some old ass games :)
Police Quest? Space Quest? :P

Wing Commander at the moment.

I can get the dos version to work in Dosbox ok. but the Windows version that comes with Kilrathi Saga runs better and has updated sounds. but I can't make any adjustments to the resolution and scaling like you can when running in dosbox.

What if I got a second monitor that was 4:3, say a 19 inch one. Would there be any problems running games from the second monitor or would they only run in the primary one?

Okay I'm a bit confused, what's the difference between TN and VA panels? I got mine in feb and I think it's a VA panel, but it's got a line of dead pixels and I need to get it replaced now...

That's a bit of a wide open question, but here goes.

They are basically different LCD active matrix technologies:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liquid_crystal_display#Active_matrix_technologies

To tell them apart on these panels, Press the the 'Menu' and '+' buttons at the same time and a red & white box will appear with panel code. Then check it here, VA is usually AU-M240UW01-V0.

http://lcdtech.no-ip.info/en/data/lcd.panels.in.monitors.htm

There are a few differences but basically VA panels have better viewing angles and offer slightly better picture quality. Although some many disagree about the latter comment.

Why have OCUK dropped this monitor ?
