BARGAIN - OcUK 24" with DVI (*VA Panel) for £179.99+VAT (This Week Only Deal!!)

No extra codec is needed with MediaPlayerClassic, either. The advantage of adding ffdshow filter is you can alter the image that is pumped out to your screen in many different ways. I usually have 3 settings running through ffdshow (sharpen, resize and subtitles (if required)).

I'm not saying that this is the best player, but it works for me without any problems at all.

I'm considering getting a second one of these to replace the (frankly shoddy looking) 17" compaq beside mine.

Doesn't look like they're being sold any more. :(

Is there anyway go get around this monitor not having a HDMI port? Didnt really think about it until now. Can you get DVI-HDMI adaptors, or something of the like?

360 has a vga cable so your fine.

monitor works with an hd fury cable for machines with hdmi 1080p outputs. (bluray players, ps3 etc) :)

in easy terms, its an hdmi splitter which is illegal, but somehow its legal O.o

It turns hdmi into vga. using it on my ps3 and my dgm monitor gave damn nice 1080p results :)

Costly though.

Ive not got either a 360 or ps3. Would there be much point in me getting this cable for future ref?

Ive not got a laptop with a HDMI cable, so I guess I could use it to connect my laptop to my monitor if I started to download HD material?!

Yes, but they aren't cheap. I got one for my Wii so can't comment on HD through it, but it works well.

I use Media Player Classic and ffdshow filter. However, you can choose whatever (front-end) player you wish.

I normally use VLC but just occasionally, for no apparent reason, my computer's CPU can't keep up (Q6600 @ 3GHz, 8800GTX @ 1080p), when I use wmplayer. The multithreading means CPU isn't a problem, but VLC has more shortcuts!

Well i'm so far from missing the VA boat i'd need hubble to see it,
anyways seeing as theres a few knocking about in clearance with a bit of a mixed description regards TN/VA but im guessing it'll be a TN anyhoo, what i wanted to know was are the TN's that bad? i mean it's still a 24" and at £138!! it'd need to be really bad to still not be worth it surely?

I am directly infront of it anyway so angles arent an issue, just fancy an upgrade from my ol 20" phillips (ips panel iirc)

Steve

VA monitors are still around, they're just not as cheap as this one! :(
And you say you're directly in front of it, and for using it at a desk for most things a TN will be fine, especially if it's got an adjustable stand. But I wouldn't get a TN if you want to watch movies, since you can sometimes get colour deviations even just from the different angles you look at the screen when you're close, and when you're far away you're normally watching with other people, and angles deffo become an annoyance then.

Hello there,

I have currently returned my monitor as it was flickering madly then it just cut out altogether. It was only 10 months old. So overclockers are sending me out a replacement, of which i am very grateful.

My only issue is i am concerned that the replacement will be a TN panel instead of the VA i used to have. Is there any clear way of identifying what kind of panel it is?
