BARGAIN - OcUK 24" with DVI (*VA Panel) for £179.99+VAT (This Week Only Deal!!)

Hello there,

I have currently returned my monitor as it was flickering madly then it just cut out altogether. It was only 10 months old. So overclockers are sending me out a replacement, of which i am very grateful.

My only issue is i am concerned that the replacement will be a TN panel instead of the VA i used to have. Is there any clear way of identifying what kind of panel it is?

Tilt the panel upwards and look at it from underneath, and compare it to extreme angles from the other sides. If it is TN it will have poor viewing angles and look very dark from the sides, most noticeably the bottom.

I've been keeping my eye out for them but i think there all gone now - you can still pick up the Yakura on Ebay for around £175-200 but second hand they sell for about £100-140.

If the warranty is with digimate then in my experience it's not worth the paper it's written on.Plus their quality control sucks bigtime imho

For my sins i bought digitmate tv,registered it online and received a 3yr warranty(just like many others who bought their tv's did a couple years back).

Anyway my first lasted 10 months and it took them 6/7 weeks to send me a replacement.Skip forward 6 months and this tv is now broke(same type of panel fault like the first).

So i phoned up to arrange a repair and was told my warranty was only supposed to be 1 year and not 3.Even though my account stated on the digimate website 3yr warranty.Lucky for me i saved my account webpage as digimate changed it!.However digitmate now say oh yes it does have a 3yr warranty but the 2nd/3rd year is only labour...So really it's not worth sending it back and paying for a new panel as their panels suck!

Hmm well mines been replaced by a Hazro 26" so im probs going to get shot of it as its fully working (at the moment anyway :p)

How much are these DGM monitors with the VA panels worth now?

Any ideas?

Hard to say really.. as you can't buy the PVA versions new anywhere. Every clone monitor now is a TN panel, even the Yuraku's. I don't think £150 for a good condition 24" PVA monitor is an unreasonable figure, considering just how much better they are than their TN cousins.

Seems rather cheap to me. Given the current pricing for even TN 24" panels, I'd expect to get at least £150 for my 24" DGM secondhand, even though the D-Sub input seems to have lost its green input signal..

I bought one of these 24" DGM monitors 2nd hand off ebay a v.3 panel. Really impressed with it - brilliant contrast & vibrancy - I was coming from a Sony 19" CRT.

However, I need to connect my PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. I hadn`t done my homework and it seems that the DVI connection doesn`t take an HDCP signal so my PS3 is not working via hdmi to dvi. Real shame the monitor is flawless - I do a lot of online sim racing so a low input lag is important and I wasn`t disappointed.

OcUK will be pleased though as I`ll be ordering the NEC 24WMGX3 ;)

How did you get on with the replacement? Mine's started going a bit haywire and turning off and on all the time. Put in a RMA request to OcUK put think i'm gonna have to fight it out with them as i got this in April '08 hopefully the quote of the EU law of 2 years guarantee will be enough to get them to replace it.

Adrianr,

I also gave you an email but can you give me the minimum black luminance that you managed with this monitor and what panel you have inside it?

Many Thanks!

Mine is going strong as well.

In fact, I hold this monitor in such high regard, that I am prefering it to my Sony CRT monitor (though thats only because the DGM is larger). The extra screen space comes in really handy.
