BARGAIN - OcUK 24" with DVI (*VA Panel) for £179.99+VAT (This Week Only Deal!!)

Yup, mines gone too now, same issue as everyone else it seems, screen goes black with vertical lines everywhere. It's about 20 months old. What are my options?

Thats very handy and I'm surprised about the 6 years bit - don't get me wrong if a retailer cuts up rough about repair/replace then I think it reflects poorly on them. The problem is when a retailer becomes complacent or a bit too powerful they couldn't give a monkeys if something breaks and will just front it out.

The advice guide doesn't really say what to do if the retailer flatly refuses to repair or replace or indeed provide a refund/credit note.

A chap on scoobynet took Currys to court over a LCD TV with a couple of dead pixels (however I think it was relatively new in this case) Currys said take a hike and he took them to court. Got a full refund and kept the telly - it was a big fight though.

Mines still going strong! Mine was a PVA from the B-grade stock OC had. Only paid £100 delivered :)

Maybe mine is only working because it has already been repaired once before?

You purchased it mate?

Yup very decent, the sticker over the brand name is still there :D

Im just looking for the stand (was wall mounted)

Will be in post tomorrow Via DHL, DPD or UPS for you :)

Just got this earlier today and I'm well pleased! Will leave feedback later ;]

The colour settings (assuming they were yours) were really awkward and gave a blueish tint to all the whites - any reason you had it set like that?
I reset everything to default then adjusted as follows cos I've found these give such a flawless, well balanced image with very accurate colour;
  • Brightness - 36%
  • Contrast - 50%
  • Red: 60%
  • Blue: 60%
  • Green: 60%

On other news! My RMA yuraku 24" is on its way back from germany as we speak! UPS has it for delivery tuesday or mabey tomorrow.

I wonder if they gave me a MVA instead of a new TN...

I bought one of these, the DMG one some 18 months ago. Not from OcUK. It was sold with 3 year on site warranty. It's started playing up recently so I'm expecting to be able to phone the retailer and have it replaced. Isn't it as simple as that?

I had to return mine to DMG about a year ago when it went faulty. It was pretty straight forward, and hassle free. No complaints. Was RTB warrant that I got when buying from local shop..

Read all this, it's the responsability of the retailer not the manufacturer, it's the place you bought it from.

The Contract of Sale is between the buyer and the seller – the seller being the retailer.
Your basic warranty

Let’s first define what a warranty is and what it does. When you buy an electrical item you will often be given a retailer or manufacturer’s guarantee or warranty for a period of time, usually 12 months, and up to 5 years for more expensive products. It is a myth that certain electrical products automatically come with a warranty – there is no legal obligation for shops or suppliers to provide them (although once they have, they are legally binding) – it is simply to enhance consumer confidence in their product and promote sales. It also provides the manufacturer with valuable marketing information which is why you will need to register your product by filling in a card with your personal and purchase details in order to activate it.

Warranties are basically a commitment to repair or replace defective parts within a specified time frame – usually 12 months for small electrical items. When this time is up, consumers are commonly told by shops that their responsibility is at an end and there is nothing further they can do. This is often not the case. The important point about warranties is that they should never seek to replace or take precedence over your statutory rights under the Sale of Goods Act, and even after your warranty has run out, you will still be protected by these rights which can run for up to 6 years after purchase.

Your statutory rights

In the absence of any warranty and as we have pointed out several times, the retailer is automatically liable for any faults which develop within the first 6 months. After this time, you may have to prove that the any fault was not down to misuse or wear and tear, although factors such as price paid, model specification, the length of time you have had it (and the length of time it should reasonably last) etc will also be taken into account. Therefore if you buy something which should last around 7 years but has broken down after a year or even after 3 years, the supplier has a duty provide a satisfactory repair – or if this cannot be done, a replacement. If neither a repair or a replacement can be agreed on then the shop can give you vouchers towards the cost of an alternative replacement or a partial refund. Whatever happens, whenever it happens, and whatever remedy you choose, your first and only port of call should be the retailer.

Your statutory rights under the Sale of Goods Act take precedence over and above any warranty or guarantee you may have with either the retailer or manufacturer. It is misleading for a shop to tell you they can do nothing simply because their warranty or guarantee has run out, because you will still have your statutory rights.

Phoenixdancer - what panel type was your Yuraku replaced with?

they sent the same pannel back :D

they replaced the two PCBs inside as they were the ones at fault not the actuall pannel itself.

So all the ones with lines and switching on and off its not the LCD its the stuff behind it that runs it :D

They said they will only replace the main pannel if it was cracked or to many dead pixles

Well thats what the woman told me on the phone.

Its now for sale on ebay... M-PVA Yuraku :D

Is it the £150 one? "Ittech"? I'm quite interested in another and I should get fellow OcUK'er priority! :p What's the condition and screen/colour quality like? Is it the same as the one I bought from you last month?

Thanks for replying :) I thought they had replaced the panel. Mine has very bad image persistence which won't go away. I've tried all the usual methods to get rid of it so i guess they would have to replace the panel.

I'm also getting the same black screen with vertical lines problem, just started happening yesturday.
Unfortunately i bought mine from ****.com as it was cheaper...
Now i find out they dont have any telephone number and the automatic returns thing online is broken.
Hopefully i will be able to sort out a repair! but will have to wait till tomorrow then try live chat...
