BARGAIN - OcUK 24" with DVI (*VA Panel) for £179.99+VAT (This Week Only Deal!!)

Can you do 1:1 via software? If so, how?

nVidia control panel - dunno if ATI has one but should do.

I would say yes from thinking back to when I had my 1080p HDTV, there is settings that will appear with DVI (or DVI to HDMI) that dont matter with VGA.

I aint 100% sure though.

I just think it's reasonable to allow us to purchase at the same price, now that we know where we stand - what exactly is unreasonable about that?

It was cheaper because we were taking a risk, you're not. It's what's known as an introductory offer.

You were told it's a great monitor by Gibbo and you were told when the deal would end, you had all the relevant information and decided to wait until the price had gone up.

sorry for not reading all 23 pages of the thread, but can we get an overall conclusion on the monitor? is it good overall (compared to all other 24'' monitors) or just good for the price range its in? Also, whats the deal with the price, i know ive missed the weekend deal or whatever happened, but is £260 the price itll stay at? can i expect any sort of christmas sales, or price increases if the monitor is now known as being good?

It should drop a few quid on this week only afaik.

I would give the monitor a 9/10, image quality is up there with the Dell 24" but the stand is a little flimsy.

and what was the verdict on the type of screen? good priced TN, or insanely low price PVA or whatever that decent type of panel used in the expensive dells is called?

Hi there

For those who are moaning for whatever reasons, here are some facts!

OcUK does weekend specials from time to time, this is not the first time and when we do these we promote it heavily via most forums including general discussion to make sure people get to see the deal. This deal was posted in monitors, graphics, general discussion and motors.

The deal was also posted on the front page of our website and within the latest news section as well on the site. So it was very clearly advertised and made clear it was a weekend only deal.

Now OcUK was not trying to promote an unknown product, we already knew it was damn good as I actually got one out myself, put it on my desk and tested it and am still using it as I feel reluctant to put it back as its so good.

So what I actually did was inform this community about what was an absolute bargain, I tested it and confirmed it was a VA panel, I took photos of the unit in action from various angles. This is not the action of selling an unknown product, this is the action of me informing our customers what a fantastic product this truly is and that for the period of WEEKEND ONLY it will be on special offer.

So the price has not been hiked up at all, its at the original price its always been sold at which is still incredibly cheap as OcUK could easily sell this panel all day long at £269+VAT with no issues.

The people that know me on these forums know I won't recommend a product unless I believe it is good and would actually buy it myself. Thats why so many people over the weekend lept in and purchased these because they knew they were onto a good thing.

I made it clear the price would return back to normal on Monday but extended it until Monday midday to give some more a chance to get in on the deal.

I then also for those who did not want to leap in head first said I would offer the monitor again at a slight discount on This Week Only which will go live in about one hours time, it won't be as good as the weekend special for obvious reasons but it will be a damn good price for what is a fantastic piece of kit.

Thats all I have to say on the matter!

P.S. Thread title updated!

gibbo as i said i understand just said you updated the thread tittle when price went down but not when it went back up. thats all.

can understand why people are pesamistic about buying it now though.

Has hdcp being confirmed yeT?

Hi Gibbo,

Thanks for the update.
For the benefit of all concerned and just to confirm, there will be no further price drop? Or can we expect the panel to appear today on the weekly specials at some reduced price?

Thanks again!

Got mine this morning (ordered monday morning at the lower price)

I'll get the bad points out the way first, I have 1 dead pixel (black) about 3" from the left and 1" down, but it's so small it's not worth worrying about. The stand is basic but if you use a sturdy desk like me it doesn't wobble. The blue LED is too bright but easily fixed.

The good points, Picture quality is fantastic as are the viewing angles and i think it's actually a good looking monitor bar the stand.

In short i wouldn't hesitate buying this monitor at it's current price. In all honesty i couldn't imagine anybody being dissapointed with there purchase at whatever price.

Thanks Gibbo :)

Got mine yesterday and I'm very pleased with it.I jumped in Friday night after Gibbo's and Tizor's recommendation and glad I did as I think I would have ended up with an inferior 22" otherwise.

The stand is OK for me, no wobbles when I type but as stated above, I have a sturdy table as well, but it's going on the wall anyway on a rotating bracket so I can utilise the landscape/portrait.

the bright LED was sorted with a black marker and pleased to report, no signs of any dead pixels.

So thanks Gibbo and Tizor for the great deal I got.

I'm now off to the bookies to cause a stink as they wouldn't let me place a bet on the winner at Kempton yesterday 3 hours after the race had finished. I would have deffo backed the winner yesterday, but I couldn't get there 'cos I was waiting in for my monitor. ;)

hehe keithcum, pay day today so waiting on ocuk's offers. prolly wont get a monitor though as i dont really need one, but need a new psu and large hdd.

I am still undecided as to whether to buy the 2232BW Pebble which has a native res of 1680 x 1050 or buy this 24". I have an XFX 8800GTS and mainly play WoW although I do dabble in some FPS play every now and again. What I am afraid is that although I absolutely love this screen's size, image quality and viewing angles, on the otherhand I am afraid that I won't be playing much in its 1920 x 1200 native res due to my card not being able to play decent fps in that resolution. Since it doesn't do 1:1 scaling, I would need to do that through my Nvidia - will the screen quality be at par with the Sammy's native one?
Am I worrying too much and my card will handle 1920x1200 decently?

I have £250-£300 to spend on myself this Christmas and would love the jump from my V7 19" to a bigger wider screen - what should I choose??? Please give some more advice - I'm trluy baffled.
