Every single one of my uncles did a stint in Liverpool's shipyards and only did so because their father worked there. Only one of them still works in shipping. The rest did their stint and went on to the military.

My employer covered all losses it caused it's clients through its hedge fund vehicles in 2008.

Organisations like mine? Sure. The organisation I work for? Pretty much the cleanest out there, by a wide margin. We're not all *******s. :)

I can't understand why people want to go back to the good old days of not being able to get into the closed shops, British Leyland and Rover going on strike every five minutes because the wrong type of toilet roll is installed or the boss didn't say hello when he came in.

It was backward, broken and designed to put as much money in the corrupt union bosses pocket as possible.

Argentina invaded the falklands. The falklands are british, its that simple.

I've no reason to lie - I agree with you that it's all gotten way out of hand with regards to the structure of the economy - I even posted so after you. The reason I redacted the employer part earlier was because it wasn't really relevant and gave my post a rather unpleasant/snarky tone that I didn't intend.

China didn't invade HK to get it back, it was solved via an entirely different process.

Argentina decided they'd invade the Falklands to take it back without asking and as such got their asses handed to them.
