Batman Arkham Knight - Official Thread!

Have to completely agree with you here Neil. It seems that they've just defaulted to the "Well there is nothing i can do" camp and just accepted their fate.

All that hardware that is barely being used, when they could just sell up and buy a console.

/r/pcmasterrace would be ashamed.

It is only a game so maybe those of us who have "accepted our fate" just think there are better things to get worked up about than the fact batman's mask doesn't get wet when it rains :D

Pretty much this.

Also how many of the good folks in here having issues pre-ordered this? Surely this another reason why pre-ordering games is time and time again a terrible idea. The sheer volume of people that were throwing money at this game before a single play test or review was out is amazing.

Dev's can get away with this because you are lining their pockets before the job is done, none of it will make a difference though because some people must absolutely have the exra stuff that pre orders often come with and makes utterly no difference to the game.

DRM doesn't stop piracy, nothing ever will I doubt, what it does do is it destroys games and for genuine people like us who buy our games suffer because of it. At least with CD Projekt Red they are open and honest, they dont stuff DRM into there games because they know it has a negative effect on performance, if there is one games company everyone should follow it is CD Projekt Red.

Im starting to lose faith in new game releases they all just seem crippled and poor, lots of folk pump hundreds of £'s into worthy gaming machines and yet it's still not enough, as usual the consumer loses out. If games were developed properly I bet hardware going back 4 years ago would still be enough to run games today at 1920x1080 at least.
Denuvo does right now its uncrackable thats why this game has terrible FPS as Denuvo constantly monitors game files to ensure they are not tampered with  after Nvidia probably paid millions for this games development I would think WB had their money back many times over so why the worse possible DRM scheme

Is this really that bad? So disappointed, loved Origins and Asylum and was looking forward to this. :(

It's poorly optimised but aside from that and the slightly iffy batmobile it is very good, if you liked the previous games then it's definitely worth picking up.

If you have a low/mid-range PC then you might want to get it on a console instead if you have that option.

I am playing on Medium settings, Have unrestricted the FPS in the ini file and the game sits at around 40-60 fps with some stutter but nothing major. It is perfectly playable, Does look amazing (Apart from some textures up close).

It just seems to me that people are running games on max graphics on day of release while expecting things to work perfectly every time. Its almost as if people have forgotten there are countless hardware/software configurations to account for and there will always be teething issues on games these days unless specifically developed for the PC only. I am not saying it is ideal just that these issues are kind of expected with a world wide same day multi platform release.

Those saying vote with your wallets will do nothing to fix the issue either, Vote with your wallet and you are assisting with the downfall of PC gaming faster than putting up with the shoddy ports and poor day one optimisations because if publishers stop getting a decent revenue from pc games, They won't focus on better development in that area they will make the business decision to cut funding to that part of the project and focus more of it into the console side.

Performance wise it's a bit of a mess, FR jumps around a fair bit especially when getting in and out of the batmobile as others have suggested. Credit to CDkey's for sorting out the Harley DLC codes so quickly, very impressed with their after sales.

Thanks, I loved the previous games so I may well grab this, going to have a look at some reviews first. I'm running an i7 920 D0 at 4.2Gh with 16Gb Corsair Vengeance and an Nvidia 760GTX so hopefully that should be ok?

Watching the video it looks as though in some aspects the graphics are better on consoles and on others it is better on the PC but it is far smoother OVERALL going by that video on the PC than on the consoles.

Id rather have a smoother game instead of a prettier one. Admittedly Id rather have both but we will never get that if we are realistic.

From what I have read on GAF PC users are saying the mirco stutter in the game even at 60FPS is ruining the experience.

It runs like a dog on the 980ti system I have just built. The PS4 is 30fps but it runs really well with very little slowdown.

It's another bad PC port and makes you question buying £600 graphics cards when the games run like this tbh.

Not so sure about that - it should really be making you question throwing down money at games months and months before release where the developer has been cryptic about review code...

There are plenty of developers out there who still make decent games worthy of playing on the PC; I though RockSteady were one of them based on their earlier Batman titles but I guess a few too many back-room console publisher party hand-jobs and cash waved in their face made them think they could get away with not putting the effort in

What's particularly insulting is that at the same time devs are clearly growing to expect people to swallow console-like prices and DLC, season passes, pre-order bonuses etc. for the PC version; but then outsourcing it as cheap as possible to boot

I think the issue is that the consoles is where the money is and no developer is going to spend ages producing a better PC version for little gain. As the consoles now are technically PC's architecture wise it seems the lead is now the consoles with the PC getting shoddy ports and left a bit behind.

I honestly believe the days of great PC games are pretty much in the past now. With only a couple of devs giving decent PC versions it is a shame but inevitable I feel.
