Batman Arkham Knight - Official Thread!

This is embarrassing on so many levels for Nvidia, Warner Bros, Rocksteady and Iron Galaxy. It's got to the stage now with PC games that I'd rather developers just have a different development cycle and release the PC version at a later date if it means that that extra time allows them to optimise performance, or at least delay the launch of the PC version until it's ready. GTA V runs nicely on loads of different types of hardware, and although Witcher 3 suffered the downgrade controvery, that too runs very nicely on several tiers of hardware, and both were either separately developed or delayed.

What has to stop is developers outsourcing the porting of the game to small third-party companies. I can only assume that Rocksteady did this because they didn't think they could deal with developing for all three platforms. However, had Rocksteady released the console versions of this game when they did and then spent 3-4 months working on the PC version, making sure it was superior from a performance and graphical perspective, I don't think anyone would complain about the wait. I didn't hear too many people complaining about Witcher 3 being repeatedly delayed because everyone was confident that we would get a great game in the end. Equally, Rockstar promised that the year's wait for the PC version of GTA V would be worth it, and on the whole it was.

That used to be the case until fairly recently.

It was very rare to get a multiplatform title launch at the same time, and the PC version was almost always better, unless it was made by people like Ubisoft in which case, their ports one way or the other have been broken in some way.

Played again last night for an hour or so after my internet went down. Again, no issues, pausing, stuttering or anything that seemed to be performance related. I know it's a bit 'I'm alright Jack' but I'm enjoying it and it's smooth for me. Also I unlocked it to 60 FPS but again I didn't have any FPS counter on screen. AB seems to have stopped displaying so will enable Shadowplays counter and see what's happening tonight.

AB seems to stop working when you turn the nvidia gameworks gumph on. I don't know whether it's true or not but supposedly it's because the game reverts to directx 10 when you turn them on.

Edit - just saw this on CDKeys facebook, hopefully it means they will also refund or give credit. Or it could mean nothing and they are just hoping it gets patched soon :p

We are aware of some game play related issues affecting certain users of Batman Arkham Knight PC.

We are currently looking into the options available to solve this unfortunate problem and will update our customers shortly with a solution.

Sincere apologies for the inconvenience this will no doubt have caused.

Could be worse, you could have bought a free nVidia code for this for real money from a mate who has instigated a "no backsies" policy...

Man that would really suck. It would be even more sucky if you bought that code the day before release so you were litterally 24 hours from realising it was a bad choice.

That would have been really stupid wouldn't it. I hope no idiot did that...

So what you are saying is I am an idiot ah well, I'll let this sit until the fall

Wow.... just wow!

Now I am definitely getting a PS4!

Seriously? Is the PS4 some kind of gaming utopia where all gaming needs are met without exception because I'd hazard a bet that it isn't.

Are people really considering spending hundreds of pounds on a console on the basis of a botched release? It's a game of which there are many, just move along and play another until this gets fixed.

No. Its not JUST this game, though that push me further towards wanting one.

My interest in getting one was actually peaked by this years E3, with the FF7 remake being a PS4 timed exclusive. And there are other games on it I would like to play as well like Kingdom Hearts 3.

The FF7 remake will probably release in about 4 years so I wouldn't use that as a reason :D PS4 is decent for mostly trouble free gaming though.

The performance is pretty pants with the gameworks stuff on with 2x 780 ti superclocks and shadowplay has NUMEROUS issues when trying to record this, making it a difficult project for my youtube channel in my sig :\ Not sure why it it tends to corrupt the gameplay if the nvidia rain thing is highlighted. You can actually see the rain effect which rips the screen apart if you follow it. Looks almost like a water colour filter lol. On the indoor sections though its absolutely fine. Very odd bug.

The annoying thing also is that I'm doing a youtube based giveaway for the game and its season pass (already bought the key) and no its been pulled from steam, making people far less likely to actually want a copy, even though its free! Ultimate back fire or what lol.

I remember when they announced the PS4 and XbOne and how the two consoles and the PC were so close in terms of architecture/technology that "ports" would be like clockwork.

More BS that most, including myself, lapped up.

Most people lapped it up because they actually think "ports" are real. Games aren't actually ported, it's a stupid misnomer that really needs to die.

Would love to know who actually used the word "port" first, only to then see it used so widely in the industry.
