Batman Arkham Knight - Official Thread!

Must say I really enjoyed this even if it was incredibly daft in parts (someone, for instance. doesn't know how zeppelins work :p). I especially liked how they worked in the Joker although the reveal of the Arkham Knight was a bit of a let down.

Thankfully had no issues running the game and it was actually pretty smooth a lot of the time.

Seems the game doesn't run as well as I thought. There are certain areas when my GPU usage drops to around 80% and framerate floats around 35-42fps. Also, my system memory gets an absolute battering, peaking at around 7400mb after a while. I can drop settings all I want, it just doesn't make a noticeable difference. Maybe I'm stupid, but shouldn't GPU usage go up in more intensive areas?:p

The game performs acceptably most of the time, I get 60fps with drops to 50-55 in the batmobile (45 being the worst case scenario in really demanding areas) but those gpu usage/frame dips are really distracting when they happen. I hope I won't have to get another 8gb of ram to alleviate the problem:p

EDIT: Since I'm running an overclock, my GTX 970 usually sits at 108-114% usage and can pretty much hold 50-60fps in the game almost maxed at 1440p but it seems drops in GPU usage happen to some people, especially that Nexus and zola also mentioned this problem. Wonder if it can be fixed.

My recent performance problems seemed to stem entirely from a particle effect that runs during a certain part of the story, once past this stage my performance issues largely went away. Altering settings also made no difference to performance during that part, even 640x480 with everything low ran at 45FPS on my 980Ti . On the interim patch I never experienced this issue, although memory usage has been high throughout.

I finally completed the game over the weekend, and other than the aforementioned performance issue thoroughly enjoyed the game. However it seems that the game doesn't scale well on lower systems, and the most recent patch has created more problems than it solved in my case.

I sincerely hope there's a further patch to address these issues as there's a damned fine game lurking behind all the performance issues and negative press.

It's weird because the game can be really smooth and then drop to 35fps in certain sections for no apparent reason. GPU usage simply goes down to 78-90% from 110-114%. I'd understand if the GPU was at 110%+ constantly and was simply struggling but it doesn't seem to be the case.

Disable all Gameworks settings EXCEPT for Enhanced Rain then its 60FPS @ 4K on a single GTX 980 Ti as long as you have a decent CPU! If you get texture Streaming issues go back a few pages in this thread I put the tweak to smooth those out as well about a month ago.

Disabling game works made no difference at all to this particular issue, but as I said it was only for a short portion of the game.

Other than that I could pull a solid 60FPS.

Try the following:

- lock FPS to 59 via riva tuner (FPS target in game set to 60)
- fullscreen mode with vsync on in game
- change cpu priority to high for the game in task manager
- when the game has started, you need to alt-tab, for some reason the FPS is around 30-40 if not alt-tab, much like GTA 5

Everything on max except no AA, chromatic aberration, film grain or motion blur and only gameworks rain effect turned on + I'm using Kputts sweetfx config

Game runs very nicely for me just by doing the above, not perfect but certainly more than playable.

Thanks, I'll try that. I'm forcing V-sync through nvidia control panel, works better than the built-in one. The game's still playable as there's no stuttering but those GPU usage drops are annoying and result in 35-40fps. I can easily play with almost everything maxed (fugly chromatic aberration off, of course, and textures on normal) and two BrokenWorks effects on and usually the lowest I see is 50-52fps.

I thought it was running all right but I guess I just don't have any luck with this game.

EDIT: And I don't get lower framerates without alt-tabbing, it always runs the same. It happens in GTA V, though.

I've found that ditching vsync (adaptive in NVCP in my case) and setting the ingame frame limit to 90fps has sorted out most of the fps issues, even when running full GW.
ED: 1440p maxed out btw.

Can still get weirdly low in the most unlikely places - like in a lift for example - but flying around and getting in tank battles is generally all cool now, with minimal tearing.

YMMV I guess...

Still crashes every now and then though :o

Well then, I guess there's no use trying this game without a 980Ti. It just performs randomly and nothing seems to help. Maybe my 970 is to weak for this game but I think I should be getting higher frames at times. Dropping to 1080p helped in the orphanage but outside my fps is very similar to when I'm at 1440p.

Areas outside orphanage: 37-42fps, gpu usage 70-82%. Gliding into Miagani Island, full of skyscrapers and lights: 57-60fps, GPU usage 100-112%. Great.

Stagg Airships crushes the card for whatever reason, nothing spectacular happening: GPU usage 100-114%, 40-45fps.

Unfortunately, I have to plod through the game to get my money's worth. I wish I was done with it already so that I could go back to Mad Max or other well-performing titles.

Yeah, either way, you shouldn't need to have a top of the range GPU to run this decently...

Also bear in mind that my results are based on about an hour of gameplay last night after the cloudburst, so there could be loads of areas where it all goes down the pan.
