Batman Arkham Knight - Official Thread!

TBF many games are punishing when maxed at 1440p. When I first moved from 1200p to 1440p I found a single 980 was insufficient for 60FPS with high/max settings in Black Flag, Far Cry 4, Witcher 3 and GTA 5 among others.

@Amatsubu - the Stagg Airships slowed down for me too, although disabling the interactive fog helped there. As for GPU usage it's almost as if there's an API overhead that's artificially limiting GPU usage in some areas/times in the game - as you say GPU usage will not increase even if res is dropped.

Yeah, either way, you shouldn't need to have a top of the range GPU to run this decently...

Also bear in mind that my results are based on about an hour of gameplay last night after the <snip spoiler>, so there could be loads of areas where it all goes down the pan.

Absolutely agree, the performance should scale with settings. Also, that point in the story is certainly the most performance impacting.

Yeah, I of course don't expect to max the game but it performs poorly nonetheless and its performance doesn't seem to scale with settings at all.

1440p is quite a hit but I'm still able to max games like Mad Max at 60fps and GTA V runs incredibly well at the sort of settings I'm pushing. SweetFX, increased traffic/pedestrian density, everything bar the most pointless settings maxed and it's still 60fps with perfectly acceptable drops to 45-50fps in grass-heavy areas.

You'd expect a UE3 game to run similarly, but it doesn't for some weird reason.

Regarding Stagg Airships, interactive fog is disabled. All I have enabled is enhanced rain and paper debris.

^That's a shame, I was hoping removing fog would help you there :(

I think we have to conclude that the performance of this game makes no sense at all!

The funny thing is I haven't actually gotten to the part when there's any fog:p

But yeah, when dropping shaders and details from high to low nets you 2-5 fps, you know something's not right.

Honestly, I'm pondering simly giving up on it and accepting that I lost money. It's playable but it's ****ing me off. Or I'll just play the side stuff and challenge maps which are fun and run well.

Sometimes piracy is not as bad as people think, I'll keep that in mind in the future:p

I haven't played AK on that patch, unfortunately.
I pirated it a couple of months ago to check stuff and found the performance rather bad so got rid of it.

I wrongly assumed the game can't be that bad after all the patching and recently bought the key for the premium edition off some bloke. Well, it's technically playable but I'm far from being satisfied with the performance.

Finally got this game running. I can't believe moving it to my ssd made such a difference. Got rid of the awful stuttering. Annoyed I had to clear some space though. Bad development.

They are having a laugh.

Great job as usual.

Honestly, I rarely do gaming sessions longer than 1-2h but I forced myself to play this piece of crap for 5h with breaks last Saturday, just to be done with it and feel I haven't entirely wasted my money.

I don't even care about my season pass anymore, the game's not even that good. Arkham Episodes were very poor, so I didn't bother finishing the last one. Knightfall protocol my arse. This entire game is Knightfall protocol:p

Feels good going back to MGS V and enjoying short sessions with it. I've almost forgotten how a quality game feels like.

I finished the game or rather Scarecrow has been arrested. However what's this thing about some Protocol?

I didn't get an ending yet? As far as I understand it, I need to go and do more of the side quests to finish the game?
