Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

These are the same reviewers that spunked all over Age Of Ultron, which was one of the most horrific films made, yet they all just thought it was great.

I went on a bit of a Twitter rant earlier about this exact thing! This is why I don't and won't ever trust critic reviews. The reviews you want to trust are either your best friend or members of the general public.

When I saw Man Of Steel, on every single showing I went to, pretty much everyone praised it as the best Superman movie they've seen. Because it didn't make him boring or perfect. It made him interesting.

Don't get me wrong, I will go and see Civil War when it comes out. But I just know that the same reviewers will fap like mad over that movie even though it is also about heroes fighting heroes. But sure, give Marvel all the praise and WB/DC all the abuse. Cos that is not unfair in the slightest.

I wouldn't be surprised if the critics hate it and the fans love it. The professional film critics rarely seem to get these sort of films, and I suspect many of them look down on these kind of movies as not "serious" film-making.

As for Snyder, I've always liked his work, and his faithfulness to the source material.

Zack Snyder is a hack and has barely made a decent film (I can just about tolerate Watchmen and the remake of the Dawn of the Dead). I am really not surprised that the film is getting panned as Man of Steel was awful. One for the fan boys no doubt.

Sounds like your average Snyder film which was my worry. Some truly great scenes but the cohesiveness isn't there.

Continuing on from my earlier post about modest reviews from The Guardian and Telegraph, I have just watched the first few minutes of Chris Stuckmann's (spoiler free) review. I think this sums it up well:

Batman v Superman is kind of a beautiful gigantic splat of awesomeness.

So probably a 'standard+' Snyder film but I am still confident the majority of us will still enjoy it (let's be honest - we all know what to expect from a Snyder film :p). I think I will be going in to watch this film with the precise amount of expectation.

From what i seen/read this portrayal of Batman could be even better than Christian Bale's.

Stuckmann says he absolutely nailed it :D - like a lot of people 3 years ago.......I stand corrected :o:p

It's Batman v Superman. It's not meant to be anything other than bombastic and faithful and from the trailers I'm confident they've got Batman right. Everything else is just fluff in my eyes :p

The true test for me is if Christopher Tookey from DM hates it, his opinion is usually polar opposite to mine.

Roll on IMAX 9am Friday morning :D

Watchmen is one of the most faithful adaptions i've seen of any comic to date. Obvious changes made that wouldn't have worked by today's standard but in my eyes it's a comic book movie masterpiece.

Any faults with the film can usually be traced back to the comic itself.

I don't agree. They are two totally different formats and more often than not if directors attempt to stay totally faithful to the source material then it results in a mess of a film. This often upsets fan boys but I think as long as the spirit and the general plot of the film remain the same then that is fine. You simply cannot condense novels and large comic book story arcs into 2 hours of film.

I can tolerate Watchmen but with a more talented director at the helm I reckon it would have been a much better film.

Pretty much my thoughts, critics etc made their mind up on BvS ages ago and will be negative as its the current trend for anything DC related in cinema.

The biggest issue I have with Superman is that he is such a dull superhero, MoS address this rather well for me and is a better film than anything Marvel have released outside of Cap 2, GotG and Deadpool.

Really looking forward to catching BvS on Saturday.
