I would just wait, but I had an unexpected seminar that I now have to give thrown at me for this Friday, won't be back in the country until Saturday evening and then have another unexpected responsibility thrown at me for the Sunday.

Neither, Nvidia are releasing new drivers for BF3 sometime tomorrow, 285.58's.
i dont think you would get banned for it but everytime you start bf3 i think it checks the validity of your game so you might have to use it everytime until its launched officially.
im gunna just wait
It only checks one time like it did with FIFA 12. If it passes then you can just load it without the vpn after that.

I happen to be popping to Seoul on Monday mid-afternoon for a couple of minutes, i've invented teleportation (timetravel was going to be next week, but with BF3 it probably wont happen, and besides, theres no BF3 in the past!!
) so i'll be unlocking it while im there, then teleporting myself back here.Remarkable coincidence the timing of it all i must say.
I was thinking I might install my old battlefield games and play one each day until release of bf3.

Yes it will i installed it last week, was a joy to fly the planes in 1942 so easy and responsive.
not being funny people are saying with ati 5770 there playing at 1920 res and getting 60 fpslol
not even gunna argue anymore getting very silly your cards have been benchmarked by nvidia and ati to death not by general people. the benchmarks are posted or there to find.
recommended is 6950 2gb or nvidia 560 ti 2gb or over
those with less will struggle to play the game as it should be simple.
as for guy on a about a 580 gtx what the hell
This is just my personal experience of the beta. My 5850 (albeit clocked) managed around 35fps on a mix of medium and high settings (can't remember what exactly) with enough AA at 1920x1080 to make it appear smooth (2x MSAA edge detect iirc). This is not far off what DG said.
However, in CCC i decided to have a bit of a play and tweaked some settings, namely tessellation, turning it from "AMD optimised" to 2x and saw a good jump in performance of 10-15fps for this setting alone. I posted it on here when the beta was on and someone else with a 5850 who was struggling also confirmed a good increase.
In the end of the day, its down to playing about with settings a bit. DG was right in saying in a sense that at full hd with all the eye candy at ultra settings the 5850 has no hope. I for one will be getting a new 79xx or what ever when they appear as I realise my 5850 is getting old. But to say "youll get around 30-40 fps max and thats with low settings" is perhaps a little misleading.
The truth will be in the pudding of course when we finally get the game on Friday/when my postman arrives

He may well be correct, or he may well have absolutely no idea and its not his dept so he's in no position to say eitherway. Theres a lot going for the suggestion that it would work, and so far little to suggest it wont, for now. Tomorrow we'll find out.
