Virgin media 100MB broadband here.

Using Netgear wn111v2 usb wireless stick here.

Just done speedtest choosing london location and the download speed comes to 15mbps lol!!

No wonder game felt slow and cluncky

(Time to get better router and ethernet cable )

Was it you i told to get powerline adapters? I use them and they're great.

Yup I got those in mind aswell but they seem somewhat out of my reach, price wise for now. Hence looking for ethernet cable instead.

Btw what is your download speed like on speedtest and what broadband and broadband size you are using?

Do you get fluctuations in your signal speed?

game becomes clunky if there are fluctuations in router wireless transmission signal leading to increase in ping dramatically. I am usually on 25-35 ping on average; however if the router signal suddenly changes, my ping easily goes upto 145-200 and then my game crashes.

Also just found out that router transmission signal is weak in my room compared to other rooms of the house by running speedtest at different locations in the house.:(

The 2.4Ghz signal reaches my room fine but is still weak while the 5Ghz signal is not as I am upstairs pretty far from Asus dual band router downstairs. While my brother receives the 5Ghz signal aswell as he is right next to the router lol :p

I need help to stop in-game lag with BF3.

I have a good machine:

i5-3570K, Windforce - GTX 670 - 8GB ram.
My broadband is 15mbs down.

Am running 301.42 drivers - just feel issue is not graphics but internet.

I am getting lag - sometimes 'rubber banding'.

I have all suggested ports open, and ping is normally below 30.

Not a tech wiz, so struggling to know what to check next. Not sure I ahve changed anything recently to develope this. GPU for example runs at stock speed.

Any links or pointers would be really appreciated.

u know why . why anyone would go wireless in fps is crazy or just likes sitting on settee :p

I don't know why, maybe I don't have a lot of signals about the area that it doesn't effect me. But of course because some have bad experiences, it's all evil! Tarred! :D

*coughs* Fraps discussions too.

No problems on my PC with wireless internet for every online game. TP-link adapter and virgin superhub (60MB connection) and there is like 5 devices connected wirelessy and 1 device hardwired.

Although I would much rather be hardwired instead.

Finally realised that :o

As setter mentioned previously, he smashed his netgear stick against the wall and obtained ethernet cable instead :D
Does the v2 model of the WPN111 overheat like the previous one i had? Mine used to do this on bfbc2 an awful lot, led to the whole system freezing and requiring a hard reset.

Generally the netgear adapter does heatup during playing BF3 but not to the point like may be in your case. However once on bandar desert, the action was pretty intense and after a while my game froze and then crashed.

I did check the adapter and it was unusually hot on that particular day. So maybe during overheating, it also crashes.

We just bought Asus dual band router from ebay :o and we think it may be faulty so gonna return it and get the brand new one from actual retailer. Our previous one was linksys router which was pretty impressive but could only support upto 50MB of broadband

disappointed :p

I agree. BC2 has better colour vibrancy

Another thing ive noticed about BC2, is it me or does the scale of things seem better? In BF3 everything seems to have a much smaller look to it, stand beside an abrams in BC2 then do the same in BF3 and the scale seems all wrong, even player models in BF3 seem to look like oompaloompa's compared to BC2.

Yeah that always bothered me. Adds to the numerous list of things that cause eye strain in BF3.

I Have a 60MB connection with virgin media and i'm wireless.
i have no issues with ping at all average 30ish , never lost connection in game etc.

in an average 20 minute gaming session on BF3 only 3-4mb of data are transferred.

And to the person saying use the power line solution , i tired it and its crap.
best i could get was 30 from 60 and i used to lose connection in game etc.
