The explanation given for the removal of the commander function makes no sense to me.

People that didn't know about the commander function and weren't bothered could just play the game 'as was' and not worry about it. People that did care had the option to use it. Removing it serves no benefit to gamers, only to the devs in terms of cost and the accountants in terms of charging for DLC.

BC2 had all of the above and that was excellent.

As long as maps & netcode is up to scratch, BC2 was a much better game at the console limits (24 players)

64 BF2 was dull, 16/32 players on 64 maps was where it was at.

32 on 16 player maps ;) There weren't enough servers running that though, which is a shame as they felt like new maps like that, loved the gulf of oman small map.

dont get me wrong i like bc2 im a level 38 and even played in a tourny

bf2 is all about teamwork and by the looks of it that element is going to be dumbed down

single player was fine in bc2 but bf is about multi player. its a multiplayer game.

Just played my first game of vanilla BF2 in about 5mths.....what a miserable experience.

Tried about 8 servers, every one of them full of Proning, bunny hopping, nade spamming 14yr old scumbags, basically all of them using the sort of tactics i refuse to use, unless your prepared to use lame tactics like this, you may as well not bother anymore.

After about 10mins on each server, i was losing the will to live.

I dont remember it ever being this bad, even the Mods on some of the servers seem to have given up, not enforcing their own rules anymore....

If i didnt have to have BF2 installed in order to play the Forgotten Hope 2 Mod, i would delete it off my Hard Drive in a heartbeat...and happily never go back to it.:(

main reason i cant get into bf2 now is the high detection is quite insane.

Few times someone has stood still looking other way lined up shot straight though them and in to the wall :p

it seemed so good at the time :(

Now I wonder if any of these stances or such are actually in the game, they did mention a really nice new system for animations but I guess simple things such as kneeling won't be one same animation but varied, as the picture above shows, but one guy is kneeling hunched over. Probably just renders but close to what we can expect?

But most early pictures of games do it anyway, just to showcase.

The animation is contextual, crouching in the open will look different to crouching against a wall waist high, which will look different to crouching against a much higher wall, which will look different to crouching near a corner etc.

New screens are win, can't wait for GDC.
