Battlefield 4 - Performance FIXES Thread (Good or Bad)

getting 40-60 fps on medium/high at 1080p on a 5870 overclocked lol.
Didnt think it would run that well to be honest. Im pleasently surprised.

25-30fps on ultra.

For those experiencing severe fps drops, try this which was suggested in the graphics card sub forum by new member Duvar.

Start BF4 than switch to your taskmanager and make priority of BF 4 to low, that will help.

Seems to have made a difference here.

Cpu low priority.

Wow, that has made a massive difference for me.

I've just played a full round with these settings:

S0gkz2V.jpg

Max of 70fps and an average of 33.4fps. It felt much more playable than that average suggests though.

(FX6300, 2GB 7850, W8.1 Preview).

What exactly does that 'low priority' setting do?

I'm not sure I'll be playing too many 64 player servers with this.

Played 32 player domination and everything was great. Played 64 player conquest and things started to noticeably slow down. Still very playable though.

That tip to change BF4.exe to 'low priority' has really sorted things out for me.

I can't work it out why certain people are having issues and others aren't.

It doesn't seem to matter if you're running W7 or W8, AMD or NVIDIA, AMD or Intel, you just can't nail it down to one thing.

Looking at the benchmarks posted earlier, the FX4300 seems to be performing better than the FX6300 for some reason. I can believe it as well because my FX6300 just isn't cutting the mustard. :(

Can't see any definitely trend but one thing I've seen quite a lot is that people with 4 core CPUs seem to get a lot smoother play on Windows 8 compared to 7 but a lot less people are seeing any difference between Windows 7 or 8 if they have CPUs that can handle 8 threads.

The game can easily peg a GPU at 99% useage while spreading moderate workloads over every core you have or heavy use on every core if you have less than 8 execution units which does mean it can expose potential instability in a system and see degraded performance if you have a lot of stuff in the background that you might not see in other games as its moved to a quiet core.

Totally unplayable for me. Tried the newest beta's as well as the 320's and 327's, getting 0-30 fps with constant stuttering. All settings set on low @1080p. Changed priority to low as well, no luck. And all these in servers with 5-10 people on. Even if the beta is poorly optimized, I don't see me getting significantly better performance at release :(

Got a 560ti tf in a second rig here, (i7 930 x58), yet to try the beta on it as i have to transfer the files across to save downloading. The card copes ok on high settings in bf3, but i fear it will struggle with this.

Thats pretty much what happens to me on my laptop if I turn off hyper threading on my CPU - my specs aren't that dramatically different to yours - the 675m is basically a 560 (though mines clocked upto ~570 performance) got a bit more RAM and the CPU is better specced but what seems to make the difference for me is the ability to crunch 8 threads with HT on.

With low settings and HT on I rarely drop under 30fps - mostly in the 40+ even on 64 player servers.

A lot of people are saying to get decent performance out of 4 core CPUs they've had to upgrade to windows 8 for some reason - might just be problems with the beta.

I've been on old, 320.17 nvidia drivers for a while because the ones after had big issues with a lot of issues and every time I update it's always giving issue in other games, so I run with it "If it isn't broke, don't try fix it" way of driver updating. But I didn't listen to myself, updated to the latest ones and it ran like pap, same for my brothers pc and two RL friends. I told them all to go back to the ones I did and they all had most of the issues ironed out, save for some hiccups here and there.

Cant even load a game up on my rig. I get a loading screen, then another loading screen then eventually a crash. All runs in a small window that I can't change.

Core i7 920 @ 4.2ghz
6 Gig ram
Ati 6970 13.9 drivers
SSD.

Not had many performance issues here. Just fired it up for the first time on my i5 2500k (stock), 560ti (320.49s). At 1680x1050 it auto'd to high, so went with that. Not sure on the fps as I wasn't monitoring but it felt smooth. It only dropped during the major destruction.

Hmm are you on win 8 or 7? I have a 560ti too but a worse cpu and it is unplayable for me on win7.
