That is really getting very boring! Come on, you should knew better!

If 30 series come out in 2019 and RTX 3060 is a good card, worth £400 but it cant do 100-144 fps at 1440p on DXR so performance will be same as RTX 2070.

We still has massive performance hit in games with 8x MSAA but it is really worth it rather than played with no AA which I cant lived without AA. DLSS will change that with huge performance boost.

RTX is not a complete joke.

In BFV and AC:O, the 2080 was 2-5% better than the 1080tiTi. In Hitman 2, it became 5-10%. In Just Cause 4, the lead became 10-15%. Notice the pattern? I remember back in 2015 when Witcher 3 launched, the 970 started handily beating the 780Ti and then there was a huge uproar on the nvidia forums on how Nvidia crippled the 700 series in that game. Since that day, the performance of the 780ti consistently stagnated and the 970 and R9 290X are well above it now. AMD's older tech ages better than Nvidia. I would honestly get Vega over anything in Nvidia's Pascal lineup at this point.

Until AMD comes out with a competing product, nVidia is in no rush to bring out their next gen.AMD is currently barely competing with 2070.Even after Navi launches, they can still afford to wait as its not likely to match the 2080ti. I honestly don't expect any update till 2020.

Well looking at techpowerup for just cause 4 at 1440p 2080 is average 86 fps whilst 1080ti is average 78 fps which is around 10%. Even if it was 20% better at 94 fps I still dont think I would class this as "miles ahead".

That’s right now. 1000 series has had 2 years of driver optimisations. Turing has room to improve and coupled with nvidia’s lack of focus on Pascal, the gap is only going to widen. If you will observe the differenc ebetween bfv and just cause 4 between a 2080 and a 1080ti, the 2080 over just 2 months has increased its lead. In BF5, the 2080 was just 2 FPS ahead of 1080ti. 111fps vs 109 at ultra. In just cause 4 it’s 8 FPS ahead. In Hitman 2 there the 2080 is 5 FPS ahead of 1080ti. All from techpowerup’s benchmarks. If that’s the status over 2 months, it will be ahead by 15-20 FPS after a year.

I don't disagree with this. But if my 1080 ti is pushing 75 fps at ultra 1440p and your 2080 is pushing 90 fps 1440p at ultra this is not going to result in a situation where I am gonna feel left out and buy a 2080. The gaming experience is not significantly different enough (or miles ahead) because they both push well over 60 fps

Agreed but if choosing between the two at the same price the 2080 is the proverbial no brainier.

But it makes a difference on games like assassins creed odyssey where I barely break 70 on a 2080 at 1440p on max settings. Same settings the 1080ti will be noticeably les smooth. The difference will become visible as the more demanding games like these come out. At that point, you would have truly realised the extra you paid for the 2080. And that’s ignoring DLSS and ray tracing.

I wanted to get the 2080ti as it’s going to hold the performance crown till 2020 and 1440P 144hz needs that much power. Max settings for 2 years guaranteed. Unfortunately it’s just outrageously expensive and I don’t want to cringe every time I push the power button of my PC for fear of it failing.

Yes, of course, but back at the launch when the price difference between the 1080Ti and 2080 was well over £100, that's when some people who were waiting decided to go with the 1080Ti. I doubt any of them regret their purchase.

And the rest - I got my 1080ti ftw around 20 series launch as part of a bundle and so it worked out around £550 for the card(25% off). The 2080 ftw was and still is well over £800

    Doesn't seem like it no.

Part of me is tempted to start a thread on the BFV forums asking them how on earth they expect DXR to work in BFV when DX12 is broken.

I get hitching. And the Joker video above also mentions it.
