'BBC considering ditching Legard'

I've heard Davidson. I've heard Coulthard.
Davidson is better.
Croft + Davidson, would've been the best commentary team.

I'm not the biggest fan of Brundle. He does a decent job, but isn't great.

Looking forward to this, so long as DC tones down some of the bias (which to be fair was quite entertaining and quite possibly done to some extent on purpose to annoy Eddie) it could work well.
Hope we don't lose the Grid walks though, that is one of the best bits!

I'd probably, I think the 2 together are the best and I'd sacrafice Brundle too, who though good isn't THAT good. Legard is however crap and the BBC made a good call there.

Woo, laters Legard!

Has this been confirmed as no longer happening? He used to do the walks and still commentate before?

I'm sure I read somewhere he would still do the grid walks but for the life of me I can't remember where I saw it. I hope that's kept as well. It would be a bad call if the BBC dropped that. I'll be back if I find a link

I will miss the Brundle gridwalks, was funny to see him elbow his way towards the drivers and butt in on another interview.
Why would he stop doing them? He might be lead commentator but I'm sure we can put up with DC on his own for a few minutes whilst Brundle makes his way to the commentary box.

Has Brundle or anyone else from BBC F1 said Brundle's no longer doing the grid walks?

Yeap, i'd even have had Croft and Brundle.

This is just gonna be a sickening Red Bull and McLaren love in :(

Will this mean Brundles grid walks are done now? If so i have absolutly zero reason to watch the hour before the race starts

I don't think DC has been too bad over the past year, obviously biased yes but willing to admit it and also willing to put blame on RB if they did something wrong (although if it was borderline he'd obviously fight their corner)

It certainly can't be worse than Legard...

Hopefully :p

I'm glad to see Legard going (though part of me feels a little sorry for the guy really, I'd probably be feeling pretty sorry for myself if I was him right now).

That said, while I like Coultard, I don't feel that him and Brundle are quite the right team. Brundle's style has always been quite methodical and he offers his amazing insight as a former driver. I've also thought it's better that the other commentator perhaps be somebody who isn't a driver, so they don't clash, but instead has great knowledge and enthusiasm.

In a way, you need somebody like Brundle, then somebody who is a little louder and get's a bit excited. Coultard isn't that, infact he's probably quieter than Brundle.

I know most people weren't keen on him, but I wouldn't have minded seeing James Allen back. If you read his blog he is really up on things... I think he just always struggled because he was Murray's replacement, but he wasn't Murray. With hindsight now, he wasn't so bad.

The 5live team also are good, especially now they are on the practice sessions, but I think they've had that option available for a long time and have never moved on bringing one of the team over to television.

Allen's major problem was that he was ridiculously biased towards Hamilton.

Yes, Hamilton was/is a fantastic driver. But he would allow his Hamilton loving to distort his race analysis. In some instances, he would convince himself that Hamilton would be able to finish the race on the same worn out tyres and on a single tank of fuel (this was before refuelling was banned). A lot of people seem to like his blog, but as a commentator, he wasn't up to much. Especially when you have Croft and Davidson waiting in the wings who are both better.

I actually kinda miss the James Allen and Martin Brundle combo... :p

DC and Brundle might work well. As long as the BBC keep Martin around, I'll be happy.
