'BBC considering ditching Legard'

Why do we need to start on Brundle? we already have enough to say about DC being a redbull lapdog

Honestly though, brundle could have carried off a solo commentary last year, if it weren't for legard's interrupting

I do have to admit, I fear for the pre-race show, it was vaugely good with Jake/DC/EJ, as DC was a good foil to EJ's lunacy, but with DC becoming a main commentator, he'll not be doing that anymore I expect, which means we will be subjected to EJ in full lunatic mode..

Jake's blog indicates that he, EJ and Coulthard will still be doing the pre-race show bit, except that Coulthard will have to leave a bit earlier to get to the comm box. No mention of the gridwalk tho - bit worrying. When BBC took over the commentary in 2009 I seem to remember the first thing they assured us was that the gridwalk would remain.

Wrong. :) DC is still part of that team. He'll just rack up the miles over 2 races sprinting from the pits to the commentary box and then doing reverse after the race.

He's going to be one very busy boy!

Don't forget the F1 Forum. That's if he has enough energy left :p

I guess Brundle is used to doing the grid walk, commentary & forum. DC may find it difficult to start off with.

Slight side note: Is DC still contracted to RB? Is he racing in DTM again?

Well if DC gets knackered he can always go back to an easier life and race for Red Bull. :p

Whilst I'm happy Legard's gone, I can't quiet picture DC in the box and any excitment coming across in the commentry. I can't quiet see Brundle getting excited either....they should have got that Five Live bloke, kicked Legard and kept Brundle as is, but we'll see.

"That's a front wing"
"Actually, it's a rear wing"
....
"Front wing, rear wing.. they're all the same"

So glad he's gone :D

Thats because nothing exciting rarely happens in F1 these days, Im hoping the rule changes fix that, Im sick of races being won by 'strategy' and not on the track, but I agree Im no fan of Legard either.

HD should be nice however, when the BBC upscaled to HD towards the end of last season its was very nice :>

Ooh I had no idea Legard was going so this is good news as far as I'm concerned. Legard was probably the least observant commentator in recent memory for me and he didn't have senility as an excuse like Murray Walker.
I always wanted to see a picture of the commentary box with Brundle face-palming at 50% of the rubbish Legard came out with :p

Edit: woah sept thread start time, I'm seriously off the pace with this one lol.

Haha. :D He was so bad at times. I think he annoyed me most when a car crashed or someone overtook another driver and it was a ruddy replay but Legard thought it was a new thing. :D
