I swear you could make a drinking game or something where you drink everytime Legard says one of those!


It makes no sense having another driver as a commentator alongside Brundle. Infact, if you look at the BBC's credits, Legard's role is actually considered the primary commentator. You need somebody who isn't a driver, but is very knowledgeable about the sport, enthusiastic and gels well with the technical expertise of the driver.

If you look at commentary teams for a lot of other sports, you see they use the same setup.

If we had two Brundles in the commentary box, it wouldn't work because they'd probably end up disagreeing, and you loose the ability of the main commentator to turn to the driver and ask him his opinion as a driver on it.

We can see the same with the 5live commentary at the moment with Davidson and Chandock in at the same time. However, they are both quite funny, so it's not quite so bad.
 
And again during the Singapore GP Leggard interrupted Brundle with a useless comment, I think there comes a time we will hear a punch from Brundle hit Leggards face during a GP.
 
Brundle can do the "play by play" if needed

Besides I want to enjoy F1 and watch the action and not listen to some ******* talk 24/7
 
Brundle and Coulthard? Don't mind either of them, but together on main commentary? Not sure about that.

Legard really was rubbish though, and had to go.
 
Great. Instead of coulthard sucking up to Red Bull at every opportunity before and after the race, now we may well get him during it too...

I rather like Couthard's current roll he's like the common sense to EJ's pantomime clown. I actually though Damon Hill did a good job the few times I've heard him commentating on stuff.

too many other commitments being president of the BRDC i imagine.
 
It'll be a broadcaster they'll be after, not a pundit, so it won't be Coulthard.

Crofty needs to be given a chance. Leeroy Jenkins, ffs. Give him the mic, Beeb!

Legard to go is a god send.

Crofty should get the 'main' spot alongside Brundle.

Coulthard is a similar type person to Brundle. Should stay on the BBC TV Coverage team.

Simple as peas! :p
 
Legard is annoying for two reasons -

What he says (and repeats)
The way he says it


Hope he goes.
 
Would prefer Coulthard to Legard, but we definitely need a proper commentator in there rather than having Brundle do it. I always think it sounds a bit ridiculous when Brundle asks questions of drivers he clearly knows the answer to.
They don't get better than Crofty imo, don't know why they're so determined to keep him on 5 live.
 
I no longer care to much, but can they make r5l commentary on the red button more stable. It crashed or didn't work in a fair few races last year.
the normal commentary is a joke. Keep MB for the grid walk and before/after analysis, change everyone else.
