Belgian Grand Prix 2014, Spa-Francorchamps - Race 12/19

Watching the replays, is this as bad an incident as everyone seems to think it is?
The contact didn't seem too bad.
Everyone clearly wants some rope and a Nico to pop his head through a noose, but could the same contact have caused zero damage, or next to none and not effected the result of the race?
Maybe I am missing the issue, but it seems a massive overreaction from everyone against Nico.

He destroyed Lewis's race and hurt his own with a pointless clumsy move.

I don't know why Rosberg would have anything to worry about. He's the man about to bring the WDC home for Mercedes, so Toto and Co can wag their finger at him and he could just stick his finger up at them. What are they gonna do, sack him? Not very likely! :D

red bull of all the teams have the ability to run this wing like today. pretty handy to have that balance and other downforce and driver to exploit it

The thing that annoys me, is the Rosberg has publicly stated, he wants/prefers to race against Lewis as they are better wins etc, and yet first chance and boom, silly inept driving.

Didn't realise how close Daniel is to catching Lewis up now either.

Did Nico just say that.

Maybe he should read said regulations.

Arrogant ****

He really doesn't care at all, now let's hope Merc have some balls and bring Nick back down to earth.

Bah, not much of an ice bucket challenge for Clair Williams, hardly any water thrown over her. Was hoping for a soaked through shirt. :D

What did he say? (watching bbc)

He said:

- it was the British fans, not a nice feeling for me, I do respect their opinions. I ask they prepare themselves well before having such opinions and read the regulations and understanding the code of conduct for us drivers out there.
- it was a small minority out there, British fans and all the other people were excited to see a good race.
- on an apology, I haven't seen the incident, I need to see a replay before commenting.
- I was quicker and went for the overtake, definitely there alongside.

ok then where was the stewards investigation?

racing incident confirmed

Ok, try and understand something very basic, you can be at fault and have not broken a rule. A racing incident is still caused by someone. It's not a yellow banana on a race track like in Mario Kart, it didn't just happen to them both, one driver turned into the other. He's at fault but they decided it wasn't bad enough for a penalty.

Racing incident does not in any way imply that no one was at fault.

If two driver make contact at worst it's both their fault, which still means it's partly rosbergs fault, in this situation it's basically 99.999% Rosberg's fault.

Eddie Jordan, what a ****

"The drivers should be controlled for 2 laps then let them race"

Then it happens on lap 3 so that's ok? What about race starts is the driver allowed to get near in the first corner if one gets away a heartbeat late?

- I was quicker and went for the overtake, definitely there alongside.
Rubbish, he knew Lewis was quicker which is why he was so desperate to get in front.

Rosberg also just said that he regretted the contact because he didn't get the win, not because he was sorry for taking Lewis out.

What an *******.

so 55/45 leaning of rosberg in terms of fault, nothing much in it

How do you work that out? Hamilton was on the racing line and didn't deviate from it, Rosberg was never alongside and an overtake was never going to happen.

It was a racing incident, but it was caused by Rosberg.
